A Cutaneous Vascular Neoplasm With an EWSR1‐NFATC2 Translocation—Contributing to the Spectrum of Vascular Lesions Characterized by NFATC‐Related Fusions

open access: yesJournal of Cutaneous Pathology, Volume 52, Issue 6, Page 410-413, June 2025.
ABSTRACT Recently, a distinct subgroup of vascular neoplasms has been identified, characterized by NFATC‐related fusions. Although existing literature is limited, these lesions histologically show a variable appearance with a tendency for local recurrence but not distant spread.

Circulating Fetuin‐A concentrations in rheumatic diseases: a systematic review and meta‐analysis

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Clinical Investigation, Volume 55, Issue 5, May 2025.
In this systematic review with meta‐analysis, we identified 19 eligible studies to determine whether there is any change in Fetuin‐A (FtA) concentrations in patients with rheumatic diseases. We observed a significant decrease in FtA concentrations in RD patients (standardized mean difference, SMD = −.91; 95% CI −1.43 to −.39, p = .001).

Preferential superficial cortical layer activation during seizure propagation

open access: yesEpilepsia, Volume 66, Issue 3, Page 929-941, March 2025.
Abstract Objective Focal cortical seizures travel long distances from the onset zone, but the long‐distance propagation pathways are uncertain. In vitro and in vivo imaging techniques have investigated the local spread of seizures but did not elucidate long‐distance spread. Furthermore, classical studies in slices suggested seizure spread locally along

Medication‐resistant epilepsy is associated with a unique gut microbiota signature

open access: yesEpilepsia, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective Dysfunction of the microbiota–gut–brain axis is emerging as a new pathogenic mechanism in epilepsy, potentially impacting on medication response and disease outcome. We investigated the composition of the gut microbiota in a cohort of medication‐resistant (MR) and medication‐sensitive (MS) pediatric patients with epilepsy.

kcnb1 loss of function in zebrafish causes neurodevelopmental and epileptic disorders associated with γ‐aminobutyric acid dysregulation

open access: yesEpilepsia, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective KCNB1 encodes an α‐subunit of the delayed‐rectifier voltage‐dependent potassium channel Kv2.1. De novo pathogenic variants of KCNB1 have been linked to developmental and epileptic encephalopathies (DEEs), diagnosed in early childhood and sharing limited treatment options.
