Controlling Droplet Evaporation in Aerosol Jet Printing to Understand and Mitigate Overspray

open access: yesSmall Science, EarlyView.
Saturating the sheath gas during aerosol jet printing limits aerosol‐phase evaporation, reducing overspray and improving overall print quality. This experimentally validates nonuniform sheath‐induced drying as a key mechanism during printing, with implications for high‐resolution patterning, electrical conductivity, and surface finish. This combination

Thermal Imaging for Quality Control in Thin Silicon‐Based Coatings for Lithium‐Ion Batteries: Defect Detection, Drying Dynamics, and Machine Learning‐Based Mass Loading Estimation

open access: yesSmall Methods, EarlyView.
Thermal imaging offers a non‐destructive approach to quality control in silicon‐based lithium‐ion battery electrodes, enabling the detection of defects, variations in mass loading, and the monitoring of drying dynamics. This study introduces an automated defect‐detection‐algorithm and a machine learning‐based Random Forest model to estimate mass ...

Recent advances in embedded technologies and self‐sensing concrete for structural health monitoring

open access: yesStructural Concrete, EarlyView.
Abstract Fully embedded and spatially diffuse sensors are central to the advancement of civil and construction engineering. Indeed, they serve as an enabling technology necessary for addressing the current challenges associated with through‐life management and structural health monitoring of existing structures and infrastructures. The need to identify

European Consensus on Malabsorption—UEG & SIGE, LGA, SPG, SRGH, CGS, ESPCG, EAGEN, ESPEN, and ESPGHAN

open access: yesUnited European Gastroenterology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Malabsorption is a complex and multifaceted condition characterised by the defective passage of nutrients into the blood and lymphatic streams. Several congenital or acquired disorders may cause either selective or global malabsorption in both children and adults, such as cystic fibrosis, exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI), coeliac ...

Metabolic traits and thresholds to inform marine ecological conservation and restoration

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, EarlyView.
Integrating organismal responses to environmental stressors into monitoring protocols can provide early warning indicators of ecosystem health. This approach strengthens conservation and restoration initiatives, supporting policy decisions in the face of increasing coastal development and climate change.

(In)visible Working Mama Drama: From Excellent to ‘Good Enough’ Academia and (M)Others

open access: yesBritish Journal of Management, Volume 36, Issue 2, Page 560-570, April 2025.
Abstract The neoliberal, precarious, anatomized and audit‐centric academy produces an unfair burden on women academics. Academia, like many other organizational forms, demands unwellness. This paper argues that as well as intensifying the struggles of mothering academics like us, the pandemic also rendered us visible, forcing the body subject into view

A Tale of Too Many Doctrines: Supervening Impossibility and the Sale of Goods

open access: yesThe Modern Law Review, Volume 88, Issue 3, Page 433-466, May 2025.
Contracts for the sale of goods contain three default rules addressing the problem of supervening impossibility: sections 7 and 20 of the Sale of Goods Act 1979 and the doctrine of frustration. This article uses a legal historical method to examine why this is the case and what the relationship between these rules is.

Early positive tactile stimulation reverses the increase of anxiety and decrease of sociality induced by early chronic mechanical pain in mandarin voles

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
This study used a tail‐pinching model during development to simulate mechanical pain experienced by pups in high‐social mandarin voles (Microtus mandarinus). Subsequently, brush‐like positive tactile stimuli were applied to the backs of the mandarin voles.

Tissue‐specific methylomic responses to a lifestyle intervention in older adults associate with metabolic and physiological health improvements

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 24, Issue 4, April 2025.
Diet and physical activity influence immunometabolic health across the lifespan, and DNA methylation may mediate a part of these effects. The Growing Old Together (GOTO) study, a 13‐week lifestyle intervention in older adults, revealed epigenetic changes in muscle, adipose, and blood at hundreds of CpGs, linking these to differential gene expression ...

A Xanthine Derivative With Novel Heat Shock Protein 90‐Alpha Inhibitory and Senolytic Properties

open access: yesAging Cell, EarlyView.
This study aimed to find safe senolytic drugs that selectively eliminate senescent cells. Focusing on HSP90 inhibitors, we employed a virtual screening to identify novel, safer compounds (A). K5, a xanthinic candidate, effectively eliminated senescent cells in various cellular models (B), extended lifespan in flies, and reduced aging signs in mice (C).
