The Mass Assembly of Fossil Groups of Galaxies in the Millennium Simulation

open access: yes, 2007
The evolution of present-day fossil galaxy groups is studied in the Millennium Simulation. Using the corresponding Millennium gas simulation and semi-analytic galaxy catalogues, we select fossil groups at redshift zero according to the conventional ...

Electronic Structure Modulation Induced by Asymmetric Cu─Ni Centers in a π‐Conjugated Triazine MOF

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
A π‐conjugated H3TATB‐based asymmetric bimetallic CuNi‐MOF was developed as an efficient electrocatalyst for alkaline hydrogen evolution. Benefiting from synergistic Cu–Ni interactions, enhanced charge transfer, and stabilized active sites, CuNi‐MOF delivers superior HER performance with low overpotential, improved kinetics, and 24 h durability.

Classifying Cockroaches According to Forewings: Pitfalls and Implications for Fossil Systematics

open access: yesTaxonomy
A reliable character system is crucial to taxonomy and systematics, and it promises valid downstream inferences, e.g., estimates of diversity and disparity, reconstruction of evolutionary history, and even stratigraphic correlations.

Canadian Indigenous female leadership and political agency in climate change [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The Canadian federal election of 2015 was a watershed moment for women’s political agency, indigenous activism and climate justice in Canada. Since 1990, skyrocketing fossil fuel extraction, especially in the Alberta tar sands, had generated escalating ...

Three‐Dimensional Printed Microarchitected Hierarchically Porous Biodegradable PLA/S/CNT Nanocomposite Electrodes for High‐Performance Lithium–Sulfur Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Hierarchically microarchitected PLA/S/CNT cathodes are fabricated via scalable fused filament 3D printing as high‐sulfur‐loading hosts for rechargeable lithium–sulfur batteries. The assembled Li–S cells with sulfur loadings up to 17 mg cm−2 deliver an areal capacity of 9.2 mAh cm−2 and retain 96% of their discharge capacity after 100 charge–discharge ...

Trauma in the life of a Nebuloxyla , an Early Devonian basal euphyllophyte

open access: yesActa Palaeobotanica
Anatomically preserved material from Lower Devonian strata of the Battery Point Formation (Gaspé Peninsula, Quebec, Canada) offers a rare opportunity to reconstruct the sequence of events in the life of a Nebuloxyla mikmaqiana plant (early ...
