Bridging the Loneliness Gap: Depression, Connectivity, and Isolation in Pediatric Oncology Patients and Their Peers

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Loneliness is associated with adverse physical and mental health outcomes and remains understudied in children and adolescents undergoing cancer therapy. Pediatric oncology patients may be at increased risk due to medical isolation and disruption of social networks.

A Foundation Model for Soccer

open access: yesCoRR
We propose a foundation model for soccer, which is able to predict subsequent actions in a soccer match from a given input sequence of actions. As a proof of concept, we train a transformer architecture on three seasons of data from a professional soccer league.

The Foundation Model Transparency Index

open access: yesCoRR, 2023
Foundation models have rapidly permeated society, catalyzing a wave of generative AI applications spanning enterprise and consumer-facing contexts. While the societal impact of foundation models is growing, transparency is on the decline, mirroring the opacity that has plagued past digital technologies (e.g. social media).

Early Body Mass Index z‐Score Change and Resolution of Severe Malnutrition in Children With Sickle Cell Anemia in a Low‐Income Setting: A Prospective Single‐Arm Extension Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Children with sickle cell anemia (SCA) in low‐income settings are at risk of severe malnutrition, but optimal nutritional management has not been established. We evaluated an intensified ready‐to‐use therapeutic food (RUTF) regimen in children with persistent severe malnutrition after initial treatment and assessed whether early ...

Hypergraph Foundation Model

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence
Hypergraph neural networks (HGNNs) effectively model complex high-order relationships in domains like protein interactions and social networks by connecting multiple vertices through hyperedges, enhancing modeling capabilities, and reducing information loss.

Comparative Drug Response Profiling in Neuroblastoma Cell Lines and Patient‐Derived Tumor Organoids

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT High‐risk neuroblastoma remains a leading cause of pediatric cancer mortality, and improved preclinical models are needed to guide therapeutic developments. We screened seven high‐risk neuroblastoma cell lines and three patient‐derived tumor organoids with 528 compounds alongside bone marrow controls, and compared them with external datasets ...

Foundation of a computable solid modeling

open access: yesProceedings of the fifth ACM symposium on Solid modeling and applications, 1999
Solid modelling and computational geometry are based on classical topology and geometry in which the basic predicates and operations, such as membership, subset inclusion, union and intersection, are not continuous and therefore not computable. But a sound computational framework for solids and geometry can only be built in a framework with computable ...

Impact of Radiation Therapy on Physical and Psychosocial Health of Adolescents and Young Adults: A Joint Report From the Children's Oncology Group AYA and Radiation Oncology Committees

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Rates of cancer among adolescents and young adults (AYA), age 15–39 years, are increasing. Consequently, radiation oncologists are treating more AYAs who have diagnoses spanning both pediatric and adult practices. Compared to pediatric and older adult patients, AYAs face a unique set of challenges.
