Instabilities of four-wave mixing
Nonlinear Guided Waves and Their Applications, 2005We predict that four-wave mixing driven by a dual frequency input undergoes different instability scenarios encompassing modulational instability or multiple shock formation in the anomalous and normal dispersion regime, respectively.

Four-wave-mixing interferometer
Optics Letters, 1996We have developed a new method of determining in time both the real and the imaginary parts of third-order nonlinear-optical coefficients. In this method the phase-conjugated four-wave-mixing signal beam interferes with one of the transmitted pump beams.

Symmetries of photorefractive four-wave mixing
Physical Review A, 1992A symmetry analysis of degenerate four-wave-mixing equations in photorefractive crystals is carried out. Using underlying SU symmetries, a systematic derivation of conserved quantities is performed, and a method of integration of the equations is introduced.

Degenerate four-wave mixing in plasmas
Optics Letters, 1979We report an analysis of degenerate four-wave mixing in uniform plasmas and show that the magnitude of the third-order susceptibility (varying as lambda(2)) can be comparable to (10(-11) esu for lambda = 10.6 microm) or orders of magnitude larger (10(-3) esu for lambda= 10 cm) than the corresponding susceptibility in typical nonlinear materials.

Entanglement in a four-wave mixing process
Optics Letters, 2017We investigate different kinds of entanglement in a four-wave mixing process with a degenerate pump. After analyses on means and quantum fluctuations of the three output beams (Stokes, anti-Stokes, and pump), we verify the existence of genuine tripartite entanglement, and quantify bipartite, two-mode, as well as tripartite entanglement with the ...

Four-wave mixing with femtosecond pulses
Physica Scripta, 2009The recent development of noncollinear optical parametric amplifiers (NOPAs) has equipped many laboratories with widely tunable, spectrally broad ultrashort laser pulses with a duration of 15-30 fs. The present work deals with sub-20 fs pulsed degenerate four wave mixing (DFWM) on high-frequency vibrational levels in all-trans-beta-carotene.

Polariton effects in four-wave mixing
Physical Review B, 1994We show that polariton effects lead to time-delayed components in the time-resolved four-wave-mixing (FWM) signal. Hence we find that recent observations in FWM experiments that have been ascribed to many-body Coulomb interactions can also be explained from the formation of exciton polaritons.

Squeezing in nondegenerate four-wave mixing
Physical Review A, 1986Ways to minimize spontaneous-emission noise due to quantum fluctuations in the medium are a major consideration in experiments designed to produce squeezed states of light. Motivated by the recent experiments of Slusher et al. we present a fully quantized model of nondegenerate four-wave mixing. We show that the spontaneous-emission noise, important at

Four-wave mixing in microstructure fiber
Optics Letters, 2001We report what we believe to be the first experimental demonstration of nondegenerate four-wave mixing in a microstructure fiber. The effect of the chi((3)) nonlinearity is enhanced in such a fiber because of the small core area, and we achieve phase matching by operating near the zero-dispersion wavelength (?750 nm) . We have observed parametric gains
