Electromagnetically induced transparency and four-wave mixing in a cold atomic ensemble with large optical depth

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2014
We report on the delay of optical pulses using electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) in an ensemble of cold atoms with an optical depth exceeding 500.

Phononic four-wave mixing

open access: yes, 2016
We present the first experimental observations of phononic four-wave mixing (FWM) in a piezoelectrically actuated free-free beam microstructure. The FWM response is facilitated by the intrinsic coupling between a driven mode and an auto-parametrically excited sub-harmonic mode.

Brillouin-enhanced four-wave mixing with optical chiral states

open access: yesAPL Photonics
Brillouin-enhanced four-wave mixing (BE-FWM)—also known as Brillouin dynamic gratings—is an important nonlinear effect in photonics that couples four light waves by traveling acoustic waves. The effect has received much attention in the past few decades,

Four-wave mixing in EDFAs

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 1999
A study is presented of four-wave mixing (FWM) in L- and C-band EDFAs. From experiments, it has been observed that FWM scales with the length of Er-doped fibre. It is shown theoretically that FWM crosstalk from EDFAs considerably exceeds that from NZDSF fibre in DWDM L-band systems and leads to a penalty of up to 1 dB in terms of the Q parameter.

Quantum squeezing and entanglement from a two-mode phase-sensitive amplifier via four-wave mixing in rubidium vapor

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2015
Phase-sensitive amplifiers (PSAs) have been widely studied in fiber amplifiers, with remarkable recent advances. They have also been implemented in an SU(1,1) interferometer.

Spectral diffusion in a three-state quantum system: studies of nonlinear optical susceptibilities

open access: yesResults in Physics
We have incorporated spectral diffusion in a system of three quantum states immersed in a thermal bath for the study of optical responses in four-wave mixing spectroscopy, using the density matrix formalism and the development of quantum relaxation ...

Temporal characterization of ultrashort pulses via reflected four-wave mixing with perturbation on a solid surface

open access: yesHigh Power Laser Science and Engineering
Time-domain characterization of ultrashort pulses is essential for studying interactions between light and matter. Here, we propose and demonstrate an all-optical pulse sampling technique based on reflected four-wave mixing with perturbation on a solid ...
