Exciton Radiative Lifetimes in Hexagonal Diamond Ge and SixGe1–x Alloys
Strong room‐temperature photoluminescence reported in hexagonal Ge conflicts with theory predicting a nearly dark band edge. First‐principles calculations of excitonic radiative lifetimes fill a key gap in this debate, showing that pristine hexagonal Ge remains intrinsically weakly emissive, while Si alloying only modestly shortens the lifetime and ...

Multimodal perovskite nanocrystals enable optical thermometry across multiple excitation and emission regimes, spanning the UV–Vis–NIR spectral range. By combining upconversion, downshifting, and persistent luminescence, the platform bridges conventional Boltzmann and non‐Boltzmann thermometric approaches.

Neodymium‐Doped Nanocrystals for Sensing Cellular Temperature at the Nanoscale
Neodymium‐doped NaYF4 nanocrystals are engineered as bright, biocompatible nanothermometers for intracellular temperature mapping. Their ratiometric near‐infrared emission enables highly sensitive, nanoscale thermal readouts in living cells. Combined with gold nanostars for photothermal therapy, they reveal pronounced subcellular heating heterogeneity ...

A novel carbon fiber reinforcement for dielectric elastomer actuators enhances actuation force while decoupling electromechanical performance from the actuator's aspect ratio. Unlike conventional fiber reinforcements, it enables a uniform planar stretch state along the entire actuator.

Amphiphilic chloroazobenzenes, bearing different amino acids as end groups alanine, phenylalanine, and valine, exhibit excellent photoisomerizations. Varying structures of three amino acid groups participate in supramolecular formations and therefore photoinduced morphological transformations via adjusting intermolecular interactions. These interaction

We will demonstrate that four-wave mixing with linearly chirped (phase-modulated) pulses is a unique tool for obtaining information on the dynamics and level structure of,a system. Especially, it will be shown that the transient-grating-scattering type of experiment with chirped pulses provides an immediate answer to the question of whether the ...

Instabilities of four-wave mixing
We predict that four-wave mixing driven by a dual frequency input undergoes different instability scenarios encompassing modulational instability or multiple shock formation in the anomalous and normal dispersion regime, respectively.

Observation of interference between four-wave mixing and six-wave mixing
Optics Letters, 2007We report generation of four-wave mixing enhanced by electromagnetically induced transparency and optical pumping in a ladder-type atomic system. When two pumping laser beams are used to form a conjugate small-angle static grating, both four-wave and six-wave mixing processes are shown to exist at the same time. Interference between these two nonlinear

Four-wave mixing in traveling-wave semiconductor amplifiers
IEEE Journal of Quantum Electronics, 1995The traveling-wave equations of four-wave mixing in semiconductor amplifiers are solved analytically including saturation of the amplifier. Excellent agreement is obtained with numerical solutions of the traveling-wave equations. The analytical model is used to analyze a highly nondegenerate four-wave mixing experiment in a bulk semiconductor amplifier.
