High‐Speed Multimode Fiber Imaging Using Binary‐Modulated Silicon Photonics Optical Phased Array

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
A multimode fiber imaging system at 500 frames per second is experimentally demonstrated. It is enabled by a p‐i‐n diode‐based silicon photonics optical phased array. To simplify the electrical driving of p‐i‐n diodes, a binary modulation method with a costumed‐designed digital driver circuit is proposed. Reconstruction of each frame takes only 0.1 ms,

Makinote: An FPGA-Based HW/SW Platform for Pre-Silicon Emulation of RISC-V Designs [PDF]

open access: yes
Emulating chip functionality before silicon production is crucial, especially with the increasing prevalence of RISC-V-based designs. FPGAs are promising candidates for such purposes due to their high-speed and reconfigurable architecture. In this paper, we introduce our Makinote, an FPGA-based Cluster platform, hosted at Barcelona Supercomputing ...

Out‐of‐field neutron radiation from clinical proton, helium, carbon, and oxygen ion beams

open access: yesMedical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background In hadron therapy, out‐of‐field doses, which may in the long‐term cause secondary cancers, are mostly due to neutrons. Very recently, 4He and 16O beams have been added to protons and 12C ions for clinical therapy. Purpose The focus of this article is to compare secondary neutron doses produced by clinical protons, 4He, 12C, and 16O ...

A Parallel Algorithm of Stochastic Model Predictive Control by Partial Minimization

open access: yesOptimal Control Applications and Methods, EarlyView.
We propose a parallel SMPC method using partial minimization, optimizing only a subset of variables while keeping others fixed. This enables fast control input computation that satisfies chance constraints and allows parallel execution, achieving shorter sampling periods with minimal performance loss. ABSTRACT This article proposes a parallel algorithm

Evaluating FPGA Accelerator Performance with a Parameterized OpenCL Adaptation of the HPCChallenge Benchmark Suite [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
FPGAs have found increasing adoption in data center applications since a new generation of high-level tools have become available which noticeably reduce development time for FPGA accelerators and still provide high quality of results. There is however no high-level benchmark suite available which specifically enables a comparison of FPGA architectures,

Review and Analysis of Digital Signal Processing Algorithms for Coherent Optical Satellite Links

open access: yesInternational Journal of Satellite Communications and Networking, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Coherent optical satellite links enable high‐throughput communication and high accuracy ranging to and between satellites. Due to the ever‐increasing demand for throughput, wavelength division multiplexing of polarization multiplexed optical signals is being considered as a solution to provide high‐speed optical satellite links.
