Water Permeates and Plasticizes Amorphous Carbon Dots: Unraveling the Inner Accessibility of the Nanoparticles by Glass Transition Studies

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The water permeability of amorphous carbon dots (CDs) is demonstrated by investigating their plasticization. Novel polyamide‐based and amorphous nanoparticles are synthesized by controlling their inner packing density. Water plasticization is evidenced by the decrease of the CDs glass transition temperature with increasing the hydration degree.

Wavelet q-extropies of fractal signals

open access: yesPapers in Physics
The standard Tsallis and R´enyi extropies of parameter q are extended to the time-scale domain, and closed-form expressions of these extropies for fractal signals of parameter α are obtained.

Towering Fractals

open access: yesMaple Transactions, 2023
An exponential tower is obtained by repeatedly raising a number to itself, as in xˣ, x^{x^x}, and so on. When formulated as an iterative process, it may converge to a single value, diverge to infinity, cycle between multiple values, or wander forever. Representing this property graphically leads to a beautiful fractal object.

Leaftronics: Bio‐Fractal Scaffolds From Leaf Venation for Low‐Waste Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
“Leaftronics” transforms naturally evolved leaf venation into quasi‐fractal scaffolds for sustainable electronics. Polymer‐infiltrated leaf skeletons can be used to fabricate ultra‐smooth, reflow‐ and thin‐film‐compatible decomposable substrates, while making the same lignocellulose networks conducting results in flexible transparent electrodes.

Comparative Study of Some Fixed-Point Methods in the Generation of Julia and Mandelbrot Sets

open access: yesJournal of Mathematics, 2020
Fractal is a geometrical shape with property that each point of the shape represents the whole. Having this property, fractals procured the attention in computer graphics, engineering, biology, mathematics, physics, art, and design.

FRACTAL STATISTICS, FRACTAL INDEX AND FRACTONS [PDF]

open access: yesGeometrical Aspects of Quantum Fields, 2001
The concept of fractal index is introduced in connection with the idea of universal class $h$ of particles or quasiparticles, termed fractons, which obey fractal statistics. We show the relation between fractons and conformal field theory(CFT)-quasiparticles taking into account the central charge $c[ν]$ and the particle-hole duality $ν ...

Oppositely Charged Single Enzyme Nanogels Form Versatile Coacervates for Efficient Enzyme Cascade Catalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Oppositely charged single enzyme nanogels (SENs) phase‐separate into bi‐enzymatic coacervate microdroplets, acting as both scaffold and functional units. By tuning SEN ratios, these coacervates create specific microenvironments that enable selective small‐molecule enrichment and efficient intermediate diffusion.

Fractals for physicians

open access: yes, 2010
There is increasing interest in the study of fractals in medicine. In this review, we provide an overview of fractals, of techniques available to describe fractals in physiological data, and we propose some reasons why a physician might benefit from an ...

Morphology‐Driven Electromechanical Performance of Graphene‐Based Electrofluids for Emerging Soft Electronic Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Here, two types of electronic components are presented: a strain sensor and a stable resistor. Electrofluids properties are tuned to match these behaviors by selecting the type of filler. We show that the morphology of the filler together with its oxygen content are the key parameters to create electrical and mechanical networks with distinct responses.
