Evaluation of Fractional Exhaled Nitric Oxide in Pediatric Asthma and Allergic Rhinitis

open access: yesChildren, 2020
Fractional exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO) is a non-invasive test for evaluating the degree of airway inflammation and for the diagnosis, evaluation, and treatment of asthma.

Clinical Features of Cellular Senescence Pathways in Severe Asthma

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
In bronchial biopsies, SASP and p53 pathway enrichment scores are elevated in severe asthma versus non‐severe asthma and healthy controls. SASP enrichment is validated in the independent NOVA cohort. SASP enrichment is also elevated in nasal brushings of participants with nasal polyps, independently of asthma status.

Progress in the clinical application of fractional exhaled nitric oxide in diagnosis and treatment of bronchial asthma [PDF]

open access: yesXin yixue
Fractional exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO) is a biomarker of type 2 inflammation, and produced by nitric oxide synthase (NOS) expressed on the airway epithelial cells, with the substrates of L-arginine and oxygen.

Exhaled nitric oxide in diagnosis and management of respiratory diseases

open access: yesAnnals of Thoracic Medicine, 2009
The analysis of biomarkers in exhaled breath constituents has recently become of great interest in the diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of many respiratory conditions. Of particular interest is the measurement of fractional exhaled nitric oxide (FENO)

Is it possible to claim or refute sputum eosinophils ≥ 3% in asthmatics with sufficient accuracy using biomarkers?

open access: yesRespiratory Research, 2017
The concept of asthma inflammatory phenotypes has proved to be important in predicting response to inhaled corticosteroids. Induced sputum, which has been pivotal in the development of the concept of inflammatory phenotypes, is however not widely ...

Longer Asthma Duration Is Associated With Elevated Non‐T2 Sputum Biomarkers and Reduced T2 Inflammation in Severe Asthma

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
Longer asthma duration is associated with increased airway non‐T2 inflammation and reduced airway and systemic T2 inflammation. Sputum CXCL9 is independently associated with duration and may predict a reduced poor response to anti‐IL‐4Rα therapy. Airway sampling and combined T2 and non‐T2 targeted strategies may be needed in long‐standing asthma. CXCL9,
