Inflammation in atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease: From diagnosis to treatment

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Clinical Investigation, EarlyView.
Inflammation in atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. Residual inflammatory risk (RIR), defined by high‐sensitive C‐reactive protein (hsCRP) concentration of ≥2 mg/L, represents a strong predictor of future atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) events. Although increased hsCRP values ≥2 mg/L might be detected in every three out of five ASCVD

Dobutamine improves haemodynamics and oxygen delivery in standing and isoflurane‐anaesthetised horses

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Dobutamine is a first‐line therapy for hypotension in anaesthetised horses, but the effects on haemodynamic parameters in standing and anaesthetised horses are not well studied. Objectives To investigate the effects of dobutamine in escalating dosages on haemodynamic performance in awake and anaesthetised horses.

Understanding patient priorities in teledermatology for psoriasis: A discrete choice experiment

open access: yesJournal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, EarlyView.
This study suggests that patients with psoriasis generally prefer standard care. Teledermatology becomes more appealing when factors such as continuity of care, responsiveness to concerns and timely consultations during flare‐ups are prioritized. Tailoring teledermatology to these preferences may increase its uptake in psoriasis care.

Matching maternal and paternal experiences underpin molecular thermal acclimation

open access: yesMolecular Ecology, EarlyView.
Abstract The environment experienced by one generation has the potential to affect the subsequent one through non‐genetic inheritance of parental effects. Since both mothers and fathers can influence their offspring, questions arise regarding how the maternal, paternal and offspring experiences integrate into the resulting phenotype.

Gravitropic Gene Expression Divergence Associated With Adaptation to Contrasting Environments in an Australian Wildflower

open access: yesMolecular Ecology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Plants adapt to their local environment through complex interactions between genes, gene networks and hormones. Although the impact of gene expression on trait regulation and evolution has been recognised for many decades, its role in the evolution of adaptation is still a subject of intense exploration.

Optimization of the Culture Medium for the Production of β-Galactosidase from Kluyveromyces marxianus CCT 7082

open access: yesFood Technology and Biotechnology, 2008
Seven strains of the genus Kluyveromyces were screened for β-galactosidase activity in a synthetic medium. Kluyveromyces marxianus CCT 7082 was selected as the best enzyme producer for optimization of the culture medium.
