Integrated green extraction of phenolic compounds and fermentable sugars from grapefruit peel using ultrasound and enzymatic hydrolysis

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, Volume 106, Issue 3, Page 1839-1851, February 2026.
Abstract BACKGROUND Valorizing sugar‐rich food waste in biorefineries offers a sustainable route to bio‐based products. Grapefruit peel (GP), representing about 50% of the fruit's weight, is rich in sugars (soluble and insoluble) and polyphenols such as flavonoids.

Supersaturated Designs for Main Effects and Two‐Factor Interactions

open access: yesQuality and Reliability Engineering International, Volume 42, Issue 1, Page 52-65, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Supersaturated designs (SSDs), which use fewer runs than factors, are employed in screening experiments to identify large main effects (MEs), even when the experimental setting may also involve factors that interact. This paper introduces new SSD design criteria that account for two‐factor interactions (2FIs) and compares them with designs ...

Design and Analysis for Digital Twin Optimization

open access: yesQuality and Reliability Engineering International, Volume 42, Issue 1, Page 80-92, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Digital twins (DTs) provide dynamic, virtual representations of physical systems, facilitating real‐time monitoring, prediction, and optimization through the integration of sensor data, computational models, and feedback mechanisms. Despite their potential, deploying DTs in complex systems often entails substantial computational costs.

Aqueous and Surfactant‐Free Synthesis of Nanoscale Covalent Organic Frameworks

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 5, 28 January 2026.
We report an aqueous, surfactant‐free, and versatile synthesis method for imine‐linked nanoCOFs incorporating porphyrin units, with tunable size and morphology. The resulting nanoCOFs exhibit excellent aqueous dispersibility, strong light absorption, and significantly enhanced photocatalytic activity.

Quantitative Characterization of Gravel Bed Structures Using 2DSSFs and Machine Learning‐Based Surrogate Surface Generation

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Machine Learning and Computation, Volume 3, Issue 1, February 2026.
Abstract Accurate characterization of gravel structures is essential for understanding riverbed roughness, flow resistance, and sediment transport. However, quantifying the definitive characteristics of these gravel structures remains challenging due to the inherent complexity of particle spatial arrangement. This study presents an improved statistical

Private or Public? Farmer Preferences and Identities in Agri‐Environmental Contract Implementation

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural Economics, Volume 77, Issue 1, Page 107-129, February 2026.
ABSTRACT This study investigates farmer preferences for publicly and privately financed agri‐environmental contracts. Using a labelled Discrete Choice Experiment with 366 German grassland farmers, we examine trade‐offs between payment schemes (public/private), payment criteria (practice‐based/result‐based), collaboration options, and advisory services.

Optimisation of purple dyeing with Mexican cochineal in cotton with multivariate analysis and the response surface method

open access: yesColoration Technology, Volume 142, Issue 1, Page 156-169, February 2026.
Abstract This study aims to optimise the dyeing process of cotton fabrics using Mexican cochineal (Dactylopius coccus Costa). The objective is to obtain purple hues through the design of experiments and by using multivariate analysis. Plackett–Burman experimental designs and the response surface method were used to systematically optimise the dyeing ...
