Fracture Conductivity in Hydraulic Fracture Stimulation
Journal of Petroleum Technology, 1988Introduction Hydraulic fracturing treatments are frequently required to ensure economic production rates from wells completed in low- to moderate-permeability formations. This type of stimulation treatment involves placing layers of proppant material in the created fracture (Fig. 1).

Sustaining Fracture Conductivity
SPE European Formation Damage Conference, 2005Abstract The industry has developed standard methods to effectively evaluate the propping agents used in hydraulic fracturing operations. The understanding gained from the consistant application of the methods has greatly helped to optimize productivity.of hydraulicly fractured wells.

The Texture of Acidized Fracture Surfaces—Implications for Acid Fracture Conductivity
SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition, 2006Abstract In an acid fracturing treatment, fracture conductivity is created by differential etching of the fracture surface by the acid – without non-uniform dissolution along the fracture face, the fracture will close after pumping ceases, and little lasting conductivity is created.

Effect of Fracture Conductivity on Effective Fracture Length
SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition, 2003Abstract Fracturing fluid that remains in the fracture and formation after a hydraulic fracture treatment can decrease the productivity of a gas well by reducing the relative permeability to gas in the region invaded by this fluid. This fluid can block the gas flow into the fracture, thus reducing the effective fracture length.
