The Effective Fracture Toughness in Hydraulic Fracturing
International Journal of Fracture, 1999This paper examines the effective fracture toughness approach which is used in hydraulic fracturing in order to explain the high net-pressures that are often observed in field operations. The effective fracture toughness is calculated using a fully deterministic elasto-plastic hydraulic fracturing model.

Effect of Fracture Conductivity on Effective Fracture Length
SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition, 2003Abstract Fracturing fluid that remains in the fracture and formation after a hydraulic fracture treatment can decrease the productivity of a gas well by reducing the relative permeability to gas in the region invaded by this fluid. This fluid can block the gas flow into the fracture, thus reducing the effective fracture length.

EFFECT OF FRACTURE ON RAT PLATELETS
Acta Pathologica Microbiologica Scandinavica Section A Pathology, 1972Experimental fracture in rats was followed by simultaneous increase in platelet count, platelet stickiness, and occurrence of intravascular platelet aggregates in sections of lungs and kidneys. The method used for estimation of platelet stickiness thus seemed to reflect conditions in vivo.

Effect of lymphedema on the recovery of fractures
Journal of Orthopaedic Science, 2007Lymphedema delays the healing of any wound by negatively affecting its inflammatory period. Whether it affects bone healing in a similar negative manner is unknown. Therefore, we experimentally investigated the effect of lymphedema on fracture recovery. We used thirty 200- to 250-g Sprague-Dawley rats for the experiment.

The Effect of Calcitonin on Fracture Healing
Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, 1979Corrective osteotomy of the long bones may be required in patients with Paget's disease. Experiments on rabbits suggest that the safety of the procedures is of concern while the patient receives Calcitonin. Twenty-four rabbits were divided into 4 groups of 6 animals. Half of each group received maintenance doses of Calcitonin subcutaneously.

Ibandronate: is there an effect on nonvertebral fractures?
Clinical Rheumatology, 2008Although ibandronate improves suboptimal compliance in patients receiving weekly bisphosphonates, there is a concern about its effect on the reduction of nonvertebral fractures. In the era of evidence-based medicine, randomized clinical trials are considered the highest quality evidence which guide us to the best clinical decision.

Effect of Fracturing Fluids on Fracture Conductivity
Journal of Petroleum Technology, 1975Several types of fracturing fluids were tested for potential adverse effects on fracture conductivity. A predictive method based on the volume of residue in a fluid after it degrades was developed that describes the local effect of fluid residue on fracture conductivity. Introduction Fracturing fluids

Effects of Fracture Fixation Stability on Ossification in Healing Fractures
Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, 2004Temporal distribution of intramembranous and endochondral bone formation was studied in experimental fracture defects in rats under different stability of fracture fixation and fracture environments. Animals were surgically treated with a specially developed external fixation construct: Group 1 had 42 rats with a 0-mm fracture gap with bone ends ...
