Effect of loading and fracture motions on diaphyseal tibial fractures

Journal of Orthopaedic Research, 1996
AbstractA computerized motion sensor was used to record the three‐dimensional components of interfragmentary motion during healing in three patients with closed, low‐energy fractures of the tibial diaphysis treated with functional braces. At the first measurement session, 2 weeks after fracture, the patients applied approximately 15 kg to the injured ...

The Effect of Methylmethacrylate on Fracture Healing

Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, 1976
Fractures were created in the femur of dogs by dividing the midshaft with an airdriven saw. Immobilization was achieved with a four-hole compression plate. No methylmethacrylate supplementation was used in the control groups. In the three experimental groups methylmethacrylate was added to the internal fixation by placing it on the endosteal ...

The effect of fracture and fracture fixation on ultrasonic velocity and attenuation

Physiological Measurement, 1996
Measurement of the velocity of propagation and attenuation of ultrasound (200 kHz) is believed to be a useful non-invasive technique for assessing the mechanical properties of bone. A new method for the determination of ultrasound velocity and attenuation of longitudinal waves in cortical bone was used in vivo and in situ on intact and fractured human ...

Effect of Natural Fractures on Hydraulic Fracture Propagation

SPE European Formation Damage Conference, 2005
Abstract Various fracture interaction criteria were reviewed and a systematic study is presented to analyze the effect of natural fractures on hydraulic fracture propagation. From the literature review, the approach of Warpinski and Teufel was adopted to evaluat the fracture propagation that would occur after a hydraulic fracture ...

Dynamic Effects on Fracture.

1983
Abstract : A summary and a bibliography are presented of the investigations on dynamic effects on fracture in elastic and elastic-plastic materials which were carried out at Northwestern University under the sponsorship of the Air Force Office of Scientific Research during the period July 1, 1978 - September 30, 1983.

Poroelastic Effects on Fracture Characterization

Groundwater, 2013
Abstract Reverse water‐level fluctuations have been widely observed in aquitards or aquifers separated from a pumped confined aquifer (Noordbergum effect) immediately after the initiation of pumping. This same reverse fluctuation has been observed in a fractured crystalline‐rock aquifer at the Coles Hill uranium site in Virginia in ...

MULTIFRACTAL FRACTURE AND SIZE EFFECT

Fractals, 1994
The fractal geometry is applied to describe the size effect in the fracture. We proposed a multifractal model for stress distribution in inhomogeneous solids and obtained the exponents in the scaling laws for the critical stress as well as for the apparent fracture energy. These exponents are connected with parameters of fractal geometry of damage.

Effect of Global Fracture Care Billing on Distal Radius Fractures

Orthopedics, 2020
Nonoperative distal radius fracture treatment without manipulation can be coded and billed in a global fee or itemized structure. Little is known regarding the association between these coding/billing structures and subsequent clinical care.

Effect Of Gelled Fracturing Fluids On The Conductivity Of Propped Fractures

Annual Technical Meeting, 1990
Abstract Successful stimulation of an oil or gas well by a hydraulic fracturing treatment is largely dependent on obtaining a propped fracture with adequate fracture conductivity. The fracture conductivity is influenced by the reservoir environment following a hydraulic fracturing treatment.
