Subtrochanteric fracture: The effect of cerclage wire on fracture reduction and outcome
Injury, 2015Subtrochanteric neck of femur fractures are a challenge to treat due to anatomical and biomechanical factors. Poor reduction, varus deformity, nonunion and return to theatre risks are high. A cerclage wire can augment an intramedullary nail to help fracture reduction and construct stability. Concerns exist regarding the use of cerclage wire on fracture

Effect of a natural fracture on hydraulic fracture propagation
2004The effect of an existing fracture in a naturally fractured formation on the extension of a hydraulically induced natural fracture has been studied. Fracture interaction criterion was presented and a numerical model was developed to predict the dynamic fracture dimensions based on PKN³¹ fracture mechanics.

Effect of Fracture Permeability on connectivity of fracture networks.
2009Many open pit mines are located in fractured rock systems where water flow paths are complex and difficult to predict. These flow paths are typically controlled by a small subset of fractures that are permeable and interconnected. Most models of flow in fractured rock systems are based on a network of interconnected fractures that are all assumed to be

Effect of anisotropy on fracture toughness and fracturing of rocks
2015Elastic parameters of rocks are typically used for design purposes in open pit and underground mining, underground spaces and rock-cutting projects. However, the ultimate strength of rocks is strongly influenced by their micro-fractures, preexisting cracks, and anisotropy due to inhomogeneity, discontinuities, and differing particle sizes or shapes and
