Statistics of fracture surfaces [PDF]
We analyze the statistical distribution function for the height fluctuations of brittle fracture surfaces using extensive experimental data sampled on widely different materials and geometries. We compare a direct measurement of the distribution to an analysis based on the structure functions.

Fracturing ranked surfaces [PDF]
Discretized landscapes can be mapped onto ranked surfaces, where every element (site or bond) has a unique rank associated with its corresponding relative height. By sequentially allocating these elements according to their ranks and systematically preventing the occupation of bridges, namely elements that, if occupied, would provide global ...

Damage Effect of Thermal Shock on the Heated Granite at Different Cooling Rates
This study investigates the affecting pattern of cooling rates on the physical and mechanical properties of granite at high temperature. The different cooling rates are realized by cooling the heated granite specimens in the air at room temperature, −60 °

Fatigue Behavior of Al 7075-T6 Plates Repaired with Composite Patch under the Effect of Overload
Repair of aeronautical structures by composite patch bonding has shown its effectiveness in several studies during the last few decades. This repair technique leads to a retardation in the propagation of repaired cracks via load bridging across the patch

Effect of fly ash addition on the fracture toughness of plain concrete at third model of fracture
A new testing method and estimation of the fracture toughness in Mode III (antiplane shear) of concretes containing: 0, 20 and 30% volume content of the class F fly ash (FA) was proposed.
