MITF maintains genome stability in nonmelanocyte lineages
MITF is essential for melanocyte survival and acts as an oncogene in 10%–20% of melanomas. We show that MITF depletion causes genome instability in nonmelanocytic cells, leading to LATS2‐mediated P53 activation, cell cycle arrest, and apoptosis. This study highlights the role of MITF as a genome maintenance factor beyond the melanocyte lineage. Created

Bank Concentration and Fragility: Impact and Mechanics [PDF]
Public policy debates and theoretical disputes motivate this paper%u2019s examination of (i) the relationship between bank concentration and banking system fragility and (ii) the mechanisms underlying this relationship.

Corporate responses to stock price fragility
This study shows that firms regard stock price fragility - exposure to non-fundamental demand shocks stemming from the composition of equity ownership - as a salient corporate risk.

Chemically Driven Nano‐Elastic Heterogeneities Control Fragility in Volcanic Melts
Here, the nanoscale structural drivers of the mechanical behavior of volcanic glasses are explored. The study spans a compositional series ranging from basalt to rhyolite, encompassing also technical glass‐forming melts.

Tumor B‐cell infiltration in platinum‐treated advanced muscle‐invasive urothelial carcinoma
Bladder tumors with higher pretreatment memory B‐cell infiltration were linked to longer survival after cisplatin chemotherapy, but not carboplatin. These tumors also showed more organized immune structures (tertiary lymphoid structures) and a shared pro‐inflammatory B‐cell‐rich community, suggesting that memory B cells may help identify patients most ...

Monitoring Banking Sector Fragility [PDF]
In the financial crisis literature, it is usually argued that, contrary to the case of currency crises, building a time series index to identify banking crisis episodes is highly difficult, particularly because of the lack of reliable data on banking ...

SENSITIVITY AND FRAGILITY IN KERATOCONUS
38 persons with various degrees of keratoconus were examined. Using the photokeratoscope an index of the severity of the cone was established and compared to a group of normal eyes. Sensitivity was measured in the centre and periphery of the cornea.

Fragile male, not fragile-X [PDF]
No doubt the fragile-X chromosome plays a small part in male disadvantage, but the point made in my review ([Kraemer, 2000][1]), referred to by [Branney & White (2008)][2], is that the male is biologically less resilient.

Weakening the nuclear envelope: Lamin B receptor in melanoma metastasis
LBR‐driven nuclear fragility supports melanoma invasion. A: Melanocyte presents low LBR (Lamin B Receptor) levels, maintaining nuclear integrity and lamina‐chromatin tethering. B: During malignant progression, upregulation of LBR clusters at the INM (Inner Nuclear Membrane) during confined migration causes local lamina weakening and cholesterol ...
