Revealing the structure of land plant photosystem II: the journey from negative‐stain EM to cryo‐EM

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Advances in cryo‐EM have revealed the detailed structure of Photosystem II, a key protein complex driving photosynthesis. This review traces the journey from early low‐resolution images to high‐resolution models, highlighting how these discoveries deepen our understanding of light harvesting and energy conversion in plants.

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

Fragility

open access: yesCatalyst: Feminism, Theory, Technoscience
Abstract This chapter introduces the principle of Fragility: if you know p, then for all you know, you omega know p. The chapter develops six benefits of Fragility: it explains how assertion and action could require omega knowledge; it avoids revenge versions of counterexamples to KK; it avoids issues about chains of testimony and ...

CCL5 Induces a Sarcopenic-like Phenotype via the CCR5 Receptor

open access: yesAntioxidants
Sarcopenia corresponds to a decrease in muscle mass and strength. CCL5 is a new myokine whose expression, along with the CCR5 receptor, is increased in sarcopenic muscle.

Fragilidades materiales

open access: yesRevue d'anthropologie des connaissances, 2023
This introductory article shows how the prism of fragility can be used as a way to conceptually and empirically further the research work that has foregrounded the material part of human societies by focusing on the agency of artifacts and the strength ...

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Conserved structural motifs in PAS, LOV, and CRY proteins regulate circadian rhythms and are therapeutic targets

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cryptochrome and PAS/LOV proteins play intricate roles in circadian clocks where they act as both sensors and mediators of protein–protein interactions. Their ubiquitous presence in signaling networks has positioned them as targets for small‐molecule therapeutics. This review provides a structural introduction to these protein families.

State-of-the-Art Review on the Seismic Performance Assessment of On-Ground Steel Cylindrical Tanks

open access: yesVibration, 2023
Steel cylindrical tanks are vital structures for storing various types of liquid in industrial plants or as a component in a water distributing system. As they sometimes are used to store toxic, flammable, and explosive material, their inapt performance ...
