Influence of ground motion duration on seismic fragility of base isolated NPP structures
This study investigates the influence of earthquake duration on seismic fragility of base isolated nuclear power plant (NPP) structures. Two groups of ground motions are employed in performing time history analyses, in which short duration (SD) and long ...

Design and Seismic Performance of Tied Braced Frames
In this work, a tied braced frame (TBF) was developed to achieve uniform inelastic deformation in an eccentrically braced frame (EBF) by connecting links across the entire frame height with tie members.

SEISMIC FRAGILITY ANALYSIS OF STEEL STORAGE TANKS
Earthquakes can cause significant damages to industrial liquid storage tanks resulting in losses of functionality, fires or environmental contamination due to the leakage of hazardous chemicals. Typical damages of ground supported tanks during past earthquakes were in the form of cracking at the corner of the bottom plate and compression buckling of ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.
