Fragility of Highway Embankments Exposed to Permanent Deformations Due to Underlying Fault Rupture
Seismic risk expresses the expected degree of damage and loss following a catastrophic event. An efficient tool for assessing the seismic risk of embankments is fragility curves.

Seismic fragility curves for soft-storey buildings
Buildings with a soft-storey are notoriously vulnerable to collapse under strong earthquake shaking. However, a building subject to a small or moderate magnitude earthquake has a fair chance of survival depending on the drift demand on the softstorey ...

Empirical fragility curves for Italian URM buildings
This paper illustrates the derivation of an empirical fragility model for residential unreinforced masonry (URM) buildings, calibrated on Italian post-earthquake damage data and compatible with the key features of the Italian national seismic risk ...

Tumor B‐cell infiltration in platinum‐treated advanced muscle‐invasive urothelial carcinoma
Bladder tumors with higher pretreatment memory B‐cell infiltration were linked to longer survival after cisplatin chemotherapy, but not carboplatin. These tumors also showed more organized immune structures (tertiary lymphoid structures) and a shared pro‐inflammatory B‐cell‐rich community, suggesting that memory B cells may help identify patients most ...

Fragility Curves Derivation for a Pile-Supported Wharf
This study aims to develop seismic fragility curves for a typical pile-supported wharf. Fragility curve is one of the popular tools in seismic performance evaluation of a structure.

Nuclear pore links Fob1‐dependent rDNA damage relocation to lifespan control
Damaged rDNA accumulates at a specific perinuclear interface that couples nucleolar escape with nuclear envelope association. Nuclear pores at this site help inhibit Fob1‐induced rDNA instability. This spatial organization of damage handling supports a functional link between nuclear architecture, rDNA stability, and replicative lifespan in yeast.

Fragility curves for tsunami loading
Vulnerability to structural damage can be characterized by a fragility curve, which is expressed as the conditional probability of reaching or exceeding a particular damage state, expressed by a lognormal cumulative probability distribution, given a ...

Enzymes of the 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase group catalyze the condensation of formyl‐CoA with aldehydes or ketones. Thus, by structural adaptation of active sites, practically any pharmaceutically and industrially important 2‐hydroxyacid could be biotechnologically synthesized. Combining crystal structure analysis, active site mutations and kinetic assays,

Evolutionarily divergent DUF4465 domains have a common vitamin B12‐binding function
We show that DUF4465 family proteins, widespread across bacteria from gut microbiomes, hydrothermal vents, and soil, share a common vitamin B12‐binding function. These augmented β‐jellyroll proteins bind vitamin B12 via extended loops. Our findings establish sequence‐diverse DUF4465 proteins as a widespread class of B12‐binding proteins, highlighting ...
