Probabilistic seismic slope stability assessment of geostructures

open access: yes, 2010
Summarization: Typically, seismic analysis of large-scale geostructures, such as embankments, is performed by means of deterministic pseudostatic slope stability methods, where a safety factor based approach is adopted.

DEVELOPMENT OF FRAGILITY CURVES FOR REINFORCED DUNES

open access: yesCoastal Engineering Proceedings, 2018
The objective of this paper is to present the results of on-going field studies to assess the performance of geotextile sand-filled container (GSC) reinforced dunes and to develop probabilistic fragility curves for a range of damage states to these structures.

Circulating tumor cell viability during and after radiotherapy mirrors treatment response in cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Radiotherapy (RT) response depends on the DNA repair capacity of tumor and host cells. We show that circulating tumor cell (CTC) counts and apoptosis rates before and after RT predict treatment response and outcome, which can be accessed via easily accessible liquid biopsy approaches. Analytical Seismic Fragility Curves for Reinforced Concrete Wall pier using Shape Memory Alloys considering maximum drift

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2019
Fragility curves express the seismic vulnerability of bridge piers for different damage states at various earthquake intensities. A fragility curve typically gives a physical understanding of repair costs and functionally levels of a bridge pier.

A new methodology of the development of seismic fragility curves

open access: yes, 2014
There are continuous efforts to mitigate structural losses from earthquakes and manage risk through seismic risk assessment; seismic fragility curves are widely accepted as an essential tool of such efforts.

Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.

Fragility Curves of the Urban Road Network Based on the Debris Distributions of Interfering Buildings

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
Fragility curves are essential tools to quantitatively assess the physical vulnerability of structures and infrastructures at risk for a given seismic hazard.

Fragility Curves of Restoration Processes for Resilience Analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In literature the fragility curves are usually adopted to evaluate the probability of exceedance of a given damage state. This chapter presents for the first time a procedure for developing fragility curves of restoration processes which can be adopted for resilience analysis.

Seismic Fragility Assessment of Hiraya Building Using Fragility Curves

open access: yesSeismic Fragility Assessment of Hiraya Building Using Fragility Curves
The Hiraya Building, a three-story educational facility at Caraga State University-Main Campus in Ampayon, Butuan City, Agusan del Norte, Caraga Region, is situated near the Surigao segment of the Philippine Fault, making it highly susceptible to seismic activity due to the country's location within the Pacific Ring of Fire.

Finding novel vulnerabilities of hypomorphic BRCA1 alleles

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Synthetic lethality screens performed to identify novel vulnerabilities often model complete gene loss, thereby overlooking patient‐derived hypomorphic mutations. In this study, we have performed genome‐wide CRISPR screens on BRCA1 hypomorphic mutations, showing BRCA1I26A behaves like wild‐type, while BRCA1R1699Q mimics deficiency. Furthermore, we have
