Journal of the Aeronautical Sciences, 1951SUMMARY The matrix equations governing transverse vibration of a rotat ing twisted cantilever beam, such as an airplane propeller or tur bine blade, are developed. From these equations the variation in natural frequency with rotational speed may be found, and some simplified methods for finding these curves are shown.

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1998This paper examines a simple model: the vibration of an infinite string resting on sets of periodic supports, which are modeled as linear spring-mass-damper systems. The qth set of periodic supports may be offset by a distance xq. These offsets can thus be used to create spatially distributed gratings along the length of the string.

Free and forced in-plane vibration of rectangular plates
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1998A mathematical model is developed for the prediction of the forced response of finite plates to in-plane point force excitations. The model illustrates the nature of the coupling between in-plane longitudinal and in-plane shear waves and the resonant characteristics of the in-plane vibrational behavior of finite flat plates.
