Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases, 2015
Background Juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) is not a single disease; it9s group of all arthritis with unknown etiology, starting before 16 years of age and lasting at least 6 weeks long. JIA is the most common rheumatic disease in childhood. Carnitine is an important molecule in cellular energy metabolism.

Free radical-mediated damage and carnitine esters
1995It is now well recognized that oxygen free radicals are involved in the tissue damage occurring upon reperfusion after an ischemic period. Although it is quite obvious that oxygen supply must be restored as soon as possible, this beneficial effect is counteracted by the generation of free oxygen radicals.

Free and total carnitine in human serum after oral ingestion of L-carnitine.
Diabete & metabolisme, 1983Twelve students with in apparent good health and fasting since the previous evening ingested 2 g of L-carnitine on one day and a placebo on another day in a single-blind trial. Six blood samples were taken during the 24 h following the ingestion. Their blood carnitine levels increased (the free form by 81%, and the total by 57%) to a maximum at about 3.

Enzymic Flow Injection Determination of Free L-Carnitine in Infant Formulae
The Analyst, 1997Infant formula samples were analysed to determine their free L-carnitine content by using flow injection (FI) with an incorporated immobilised carnitine acetyltransferase bioreactor. The methodology was based on the spectrophotometric determination through its reaction with carnitine acetyltransferase coupled with acetyl coenzyme A (acetyl-CoA) and ...

Serum free carnitine levels in children with kwashiorkor.
East African medical journal, 2000To determine the serum free carnitine concentration in normally nourished children and in children with kwashiorkor and to relate the carnitine concentration to the ability to oxidise exogenous long chain fatty acids in the body.A cross-sectional comparative study of two age-matched groups.Forty seven children with kwashiorkor and 47 age-matched ...
