An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Factorization and infrared properties of non-perturbative contributions to DIS structure functions

open access: yes, 2011
In this paper we present a new derivation of the QCD factorization. We deduce the k_T- and collinear factorizations for the DIS structure functions by consecutive reductions of a more general theoretical construction.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Invariance Property of Cauchy–Stieltjes Kernel Families Under Free and Boolean Multiplicative Convolutions

open access: yesMathematics
This article delves into some properties of free and Boolean multiplicative convolutions, in connection with the theory of Cauchy–Stieltjes kernel (CSK) families and their respective variance functions (VFs).

Fast Digital Convolutions using Bit-Shifts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
An exact, one-to-one transform is presented that not only allows digital circular convolutions, but is free from multiplications and quantisation errors for transform lengths of arbitrary powers of two.

Free convolution operators and free Hall transform

open access: yesJournal of Functional Analysis, 2013
We define an extension of the polynomial calculus on a W*-probability space by introducing an abstract algebra which contains polynomials. This extension allows us to define transition operators for additive and multiplicative free convolution. It also permits us to characterize the free Segal-Bargmann transform and the free Hall transform introduced ...

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Deformations of quantum field theories on spacetimes with Killing vector fields

open access: yes, 2010
The recent construction and analysis of deformations of quantum field theories by warped convolutions is extended to a class of curved spacetimes. These spacetimes carry a family of wedge-like regions which share the essential causal properties of the ...

On Free Regular and Bondesson Convolution Semigroups [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Theoretical Probability, 2019
Free regular convolution semigroups describe the distribution of free subortinators, while Bondesson class convolution semigroups correspond to classical subordinators with completely monotone Levy density. We show that these two classes of convolution semigroups are in bijection with the class of complete Bernstein functions and we establish an ...
