Properties of a finite fully spin-polarized free homogeneous one-dimensional electron gas

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2015
The homogeneous electron gas model has been quite successful to predict the bulk properties of systems of electrons at various densities. In many occasions, a simplified free homogeneous electron gas model represents a powerful first approximation to a ...

Linear model formulation for superradiant and stimulated superradiant prebunched e-beam free-electron lasers

open access: yesPhysical Review Special Topics. Accelerators and Beams, 2014
We present a unified model and analysis of radiation modes excitation in free-electron lasers with a periodically premodulated electron beam. The formulation characterizes superradiant coherent radiation emission from electron beam prebunched at the ...

3D free electron model for C

open access: yes, 2017
As a model for the electronic structure of C60, the Schrödinger equation has been solved for a free electron in a spherical shell of finite width. Once the mean radius is fixed at its experimental value and imposing the experimental condition of a single

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Amplified short-wavelength light scattered by relativistic electrons in the laser-induced optical lattice

open access: yesPhysical Review Special Topics. Accelerators and Beams, 2015
The scheme of the x-ray free electron laser based on the optical undulator created by two overlapped transverse laser beams is analyzed. A kinetic theoretical description and an ad hoc numerical model are developed to account for the finite energy spread,

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

A study of electron momentum density in Ti_Al system.

open access: yesTikrit Journal of Pure Science, 2018
We present the electron momentum densities of TiAl , Ti3Al and TiAl3 alloys in terms of Compton profile. Compton profiles (CP) of Ti and Al metals were calculated by adopting the renormalized free atom (RFA) and free electron models and choosing (3d3 ...

Free-Electron Model of Benzene [PDF]

open access: yesProgress of Theoretical Physics, 1956
Lower excited electronic levels of benzene are calculated by assuming 71 electrons to move freely in a ring whose perimeter is equal to that of the benzene molecule. The interactton between 11 electrons is assumed to be the long range part separated from the Coulomb interaction by the zero cut-off at 0.46{ of the ring coordinate where l is the distance
