Extended Chaplygin Gas in Horava-Lifshitz Gravity

open access: yes, 2016
In this paper, we investigate cosmological models of the extended Chaplygin gas in a universe governed by Horava-Lifshitz gravity. The equation of state for an extended Chaplygin gas is a $(n+2)$-variable equation determined by $A_{n}$, $\alpha$, and $B$.

A VLBA Search for a Stimulated Recombination Line from the Accretion Region in NGC1275 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
The radio source 3C84, in NGC1275, has a two sided structure on parsec scales. The northern feature, presumed to be associated with a jet moving away from the Earth, shows strong evidence for free-free absorption.

The pyruvate generator is a common phenomenon in mitochondria from different rat and mouse brain regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The pyruvate generator, which causes activation of respiration by extra‐mitochondrial Ca2+, is also present and functional in rat brainstem mitochondria, as it is in other brain regions. This finding is confirmed by experiments with a fully reconstituted malate–aspartate shuttle (MAS).

An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

Multi-phase coalbed methane content model in deep strata of eastern margin of Ordos Basin

open access: yesMeitan kexue jishu
The deep coalbed methane resources in the Ordos Basin are abundant. Accurately understanding the laws and underlying mechanisms of coalbed methane content phase change is of great significance for achieving large-scale and efficient development of deep ...

A Thermodynamic Method for the Estimation of Free Gas Proportion in Depressurization Production of Natural Gas Hydrate

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2022
Free gas saturation is one of the key factors that affect the overall production behaviors of hydrate reservoirs. For example, different free gas contents could alter the thermal response of hydrate reservoirs to the artificial stimulation and hence ...

Method and apparatus for producing microshells [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
A method is described for forming hollow particles, or shells, of extremely small size. The shell material is heated to a molten temperature in the presence of a gas that is at least moderately soluble in the shell material, to form a solution of the ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Assessing low free gas saturation via acoustic velocity in porous media

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science
This study proposes a novel quantitative evaluation method for acoustic logging velocities in sedimentary porous media with free gas saturation below 2%.

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.
