Subject intervention in free relatives

Linguistik Aktuell, 2015
Subject intervention in wh-questions has been reported for several Romance varieties. The case we focus on here is free relatives. In Italian/French an object free relative introduced by chi/qui is degraded if a preverbal subject intervenes, much like the corresponding wh-question.

Relatively free bands

Communications in Algebra, 2000
A *-band is an idempotent semigroup equipped with a unary operation \(x\mapsto x^*\) satisfying \((x^*)^*=x\), \((xy)^*=y^*x^*\), \(x=xx^*x\). All varieties of *-bands have been found by \textit{C. Adair} [J. Algebra 75, 297-314 (1982; Zbl 0501.20040)].

Relatively free

Nursing Older People, 2007

Coordinate-free relativity

Synthese, 1972
The assumption that the universe can be described using a coordinate system is very strong. To reveal some of the structure in such an assumption, I present in this paper axioms for flat space-time which allow the coordinate system to be derived. In this way a structure more general than that of a coordinate system is suggested.

Homogeneity in relatively free groups

Archive for Mathematical Logic, 2012
The article contributes to the study of free groups, a topic which has been of the greatest interest to model theorists since Sela's work bringing together geometric group theory and model theory. The main concept of the article, homogeneity, is borrowed from model theory; it describes the possibility of extending so-called ``elementary'' (that is ...

RELATIVELY FREE INVERSE SEMIGROUPS

The Quarterly Journal of Mathematics, 1986
In [Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 294, 243--262 (1986; Zbl 0602.20052)] \textit{N. R. Reilly} and the author studied the semigroups in the title, with respect to such properties as being E-unitary, fundamental, combinatorial and completely semisimple. This paper continues that study. Let \(\mathcal V\) be a variety of inverse semigroups: then \(F\mathcal V_X\)

Relative Injectives and Free Monads

Canadian Mathematical Bulletin, 1981
Let ∑ be a class of maps in a category An object I of is ∑-injective if is an epimorphism for all σ ∈ ∑. This paper is concerned with the question of finding “enough” S-injectives in a functorial way.

ON THE SUPERDIMENSIONS OF RELATIVELY FREE NILPOTENT SEMIGROUPS

International Journal of Algebra and Computation, 2004
We prove that in the variety of nilpotent semigroups of class ≤2, which is defined by the Neumann–Taylor identity xyzyx=yxzxy, the sequence of the superdimensions for relatively free semigroups is convergent to 1 and at the same time every element of the sequence is strictly less than 1.

Relatively free dimonoids and bar-units

International Journal of Algebra and Computation, 2021
This paper is devoted to the study of the problem of adjoining a set of bar-units to dimonoids. We give necessary and sufficient conditions for adjoining a set of bar-units to the free left [Formula: see text]-dinilpotent dimonoid ([Formula: see text]), and prove that it is impossible to adjoin a set of bar-units to the free abelian dimonoid of rank ...
