Freeness of hyperplane arrangements with multiplicities [PDF]
This bachelor thesis is concerned with arrangements of hyperplanes, that is, finite collections of hyperplanes in a finite-dimensional vector space. Such arrangements can be studied using methods from combinatorics, topology or algebraic geometry. Our

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

E2A selectively regulates TGF‐β–induced apoptosis in KRAS‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer
Ability to induce apoptosis by TGF‐β is frequently lost in advanced lung adenocarcinoma despite intact TGF‐β signaling. We identify E2A as a mutant KRAS–dependent mediator of resistance to TGF‐β–induced apoptosis. TGF‐β induces E2A via SMAD3 in mutant KRAS cells, and E2A silencing restores apoptosis and enhances radiation response in cell lines ...

Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.

Coercion-resistance and receipt-freeness in electronic voting
In this paper we formally study important properties of electronic voting protocols. In particular we are interested in coercion-resistance and receipt-freeness.

EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

Enhancing the Repulping Efficiency of Enzyme-Treated Wet-Strength and Hard-Sized Wastepaper
Effects of mechanical refining parameters and enzymatic treatments were studied relative to the repulping efficiency of four wastepaper grades: kraft grocery bag (KGB), double-lined kraft (DLK), American old corrugated container (AOCC), and Korean old ...
