The impact of repeated freeze‐thaw cycles on antiphospholipid antibody titer [PDF]

open access: yesResearch and Practice in Thrombosis and Haemostasis, 2018
Pre-analytical factors, like freeze-thaw cycles (FTC), can potentially affect results and clinical interpretation. According to the SSC-ISTH recommendations for antiphospholipid antibodies (aPL) testing, additional FTC should be avoided to maintain the best performance.

Effect of biochar application on freezing-thawing deformation of farmland soil during freeze–thaw cycling

open access: yesGeoderma, 2022
Abstract Freezing-thawing deformation is a common phenomenon in seasonal frozen soil areas. Based on indoor simulation experiments, the effects of biochar application amounts (0%, 1%, 2%, and 3%) on freezing-thawing deformation characteristics and the response relationships with soil properties were studied. The results showed that (1) the essence of

Effects of Freeze-Thaw Cycles on the Flavor of Nanguo Pear [PDF]

open access: yes
Frozen pears, obtained by repeated freezing and thawing under cold outdoor conditions in winter, are very popular in northeast China. The effects of three freeze-thaw cycles (FT1–FT3) on Nanguo pear flavor were studied under fast (−80°C) and slow (−20°C)

The Effect of Freeze/Thaw Cycles on Reproducibility of Metabolic Profiling of Marine Microalgal Extracts Using Direct Infusion High-Resolution Mass Spectrometry (HR-MS)

open access: yesMolecules, 2014
During normal sample preparation, storage in freezers and subsequent freeze/thaw cycles are commonly introduced. The effect of freeze/thaw cycles on the metabolic profiling of microalgal extracts using HR-MS was investigated.

Freeze-thaw resistance of epoxy/concrete interface evaluated by a novel wedge splitting test

open access: yes, 2019
Externally bonding using epoxy is one of major applying method for FRP strengthening technology. The long-term performance of the epoxy/concrete interface has been proven to be a key for practical application of FRP strengthening, especially when the ...

Experimental study on damage mechanism of banded magnetite quartzite under freeze-thaw

open access: yesMeitan kexue jishu
The mineral resources of our country's cold regions are plentiful. As the pace of resource development in high-cold areas gradually intensifies, a number of geotechnical engineering issues in cold regions have become increasingly prominent.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...
