The Effect of Freeze-Thaw Cycles on the Mechanical Performance of RAC [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The recycling of Construction and Demolition Waste (CDW) to be used as aggregates for concrete is a potential al-ternative to minimize the environmental impact. In cold regions, the damage caused to concrete structures by freezing and thawing is a serious problem.

The Shewanella oneidensis Fic enzyme SoFic targets the switch‐I region of EF‐Tu for AMPylation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fic enzymes mediate diverse post‐translational modifications across all domains of life, including AMPylation. Prokaryotic EF‐Tu can be AMPylated and deAMPylated by the conserved Fic enzyme SoFic. Structural and biochemical approaches were used to characterize the effect of AMPylation on EF‐Tu, SoFic's enzymatic activities, and the enzyme‐target ...

L‐aspartate oxidase provides new insights into fumarate reduction in anaerobic darkness in Synechocystis sp. PCC6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Synechocystis strains deficient in succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) secrete more succinate than the WT under dark anaerobic conditions, supporting that SDH then primarily acts as SDH, not as a fumarate reductase. L‐aspartate oxidase (Laspo) from Synechocystis is functional under anaerobic conditions, reducing fumarate to succinate.

Bond Performance of Corroded Steel Reinforcement and Recycled Coarse Aggregate Concrete after Freeze–Thaw Cycles

open access: yes, 2023
Freeze–thaw cycles and steel reinforcement corrosion can damage the properties of concrete structures in a frigid marine environment. In this paper, experimental and analytical research on the freeze–thaw resistance of recycled coarse ...

Experimental study on strength degradation and meso-structural characteristics of saturated sandstone under freeze-thaw cycles

open access: yesMeitan kexue jishu
Freeze-thaw damage to rock masses on slopes constitutes a major hazard in open-pit mining operations, particularly in the cold regions of the western area.

Study of the Characteristics Mechanical Damage and Constitutive Model of Crushed-Rocks from High-Grade Highway in Permafrost Region

open access: yesGeofluids, 2022
Three types of rocks are selected to conduct uniaxial compression and microscope experimental to study the influences of freeze-thaw cycles on crushed-rocks from Gonghe-Yushu high-graded highway, which is the first high-grade highway built in permafrost ...

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

Hydraulic and strength properties of unexposed and freeze–thaw exposed cement-stabilized soils (post-print version)

open access: yes, 2015
A total of 108 specimens were prepared to examine the hydraulic performance and strength performance of nine different cement-stabilized soils under unexposed and freeze–thaw exposed conditions.

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.
