Influence of Freezing on Muscles of Rainbow Trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss): A Histological and Microbiological Study

open access: yesJournal of Food Quality and Hazards Control, 2021
Background: Freezing is a common and ancient method for preservation of foods which is applicable both under household and industrial conditions. The objective of the study was to establish histological and microbiological changes in dorsal and abdominal

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Cryoprotective effect of sorbitol on the muscle microstructure of yamú (Brycon amazonicus) during storage at 2 and -18 °C

open access: yesRevista Facultad Nacional de Agronomía Medellín, 2019
Although freezing is generally used to preserve the sensory and nutritional quality of fish and their products, it cannot mitigate physicochemical changes of the fish meat during storage.

Freezing of a Liquid Marble

open access: yes, 2012
In this study, we present for the first time the observations of a freezing liquid marble. In the experiment, liquid marbles are gently placed on the cold side of a Thermo-Electric Cooler (TEC) and the morphological changes are recorded and characterized

Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Lipid-based Transfection Reagents Exhibit Cryo-induced Increase in Transfection Efficiency

open access: yesMolecular Therapy: Nucleic Acids, 2016
The advantages of lipid-based transfection reagents have permitted their widespread use in molecular biology and gene therapy. This study outlines the effect of cryo-manipulation of a cationic lipid-based formulation, Lipofectamine 2000, which, after ...

DNA methylation and expression of MAPRE3 affect overall survival of early‐stage non‐small cell lung cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Both cg12821679MAPRE3 methylation and MAPRE3 expression are significantly associated with overall survival (OS) of non‐small cell lung cancer. Meanwhile, MAPRE3 expression significantly modified the effect of smoking cessation on OS. Smoking cessation benefits OS merely for patients with high MAPRE3 expression.

Rheological, sensory, and microstructural properties of fresh and frozen/thawed mashed potatoes enriched with different proteins

open access: yesCyTA - Journal of Food, 2018
In this study, the effect of the addition of soybean protein isolate (SPI), whey protein isolate (WPI), whole milk powder (WMP), and sodium caseinate (SC) on the rheological, physical, sensory, and structural properties of fresh and frozen/thawed mashed ...
