Studia Geophysica et Geodaetica, 2000
We present the first results of a comparison of deep lithosphere structure of three Variscan massifs - the Armorican Massif, French Massif Central and Bohemian Massif, as revealed by recent tomographic studies of seismic anisotropy. The data originate from several field measurements made in temporary arrays of stations equipped with both short-period ...

Dendrogeomorphic reconstruction of debris-flow activity in Sancy Massif (French Massif Central)
2023Debris flows (DFs) are one of the main geomorphic processes occurring in mountain regions, where they may repeatedly cause economic losses and even fatalities. Usually, along the same track, DFs may recur with various frequencies and magnitudes. Generally, because of the short collective memory and the lack or uncomplete archival records, little is ...

Interpretation of heat flow data in the french massif central
Tectonophysics, 1984Abstract We investigate in this paper the possible origin of the high heat flow anomaly observed in the Massif Central (100–110 mW m−2). A detailed study of crustal heat production shows that the radioactive component cannot account for the entire surface anomaly.

Magnetic structural analysis of the montmarault granite (french massif central)
Journal of Structural Geology, 1987Abstract A magnetic fabric study has been made in the eastern branch of the Montmarault granite. Magnetic foliation (in accordance with the visible foliation of the country rocks) and magnetic lineation dip typically towards the SE in the eastern part of the massif (monzonitic granite) and towards the WNW in the western part (granodiorite), thus ...

Abstract In order to portray the main differences and similarities between the Northeastern Variscan segments (French Massif Central (FMC), Vosges, Black Forest and Bohemian Massif (BM)), we review their crustal-scale architectures, the specific rock associations and lithotectonic sequences, as well as the ages of the main magmatic and ...

The French Massif Central and Massif Armoricain belong to three tectonic and paleogeographic domains of the Medio-Europa Variscan Orogen. The entire Massif Central and southern part of the Massif Armoricain belong to the North Gondwana margin, the Central Armorican Domain is a part of Armorica microcontinent and the Leon Domain is a piece of another ...

Volcanism of the Monts Dore (French Massif Central)
2016Pavin volcano is located both in the southern part of Chaine des Puys and in the Monts Dore volcanic area. According to the very young age of Pavin volcano (about 7000 y BP), Pavin volcanic area is considered to belong to the Chaine des Puys, while the activity of the Monts Dore stratovolcano ended about 200 ka ago.

Seismogenic nodes defined with pattern recognition in the French Massif Central
Journal of Iberian Geology, 2018The goal of this work is to identify seismogenic nodes capable of generating I0 ≥ VI earthquakes in the French Massif Central, an intraplate region of low-to-moderate seismicity in the Mediterranean. For this purpose, we apply a phenomenological approach based on the pattern recognition.
