Amidst (waste) abundance: world‐making and struggles in hosting a municipal landfill in the Bolivian lowlands Au milieu de l'abondance (de déchets) : fabrication du monde et luttes liées à la gestion d'une décharge municipale dans les basses terres de Bolivie

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Anthropological Institute, EarlyView.
In recent decades, solid waste has proliferated worldwide, becoming a pressing global issue. This article explores the role of Indigenous people dwelling within and upon emerging waste scenarios, with a specific focus on involved forms of sociality and ontological contestation. Drawing on the case of a municipal landfill sited on a Guarani community in

Remnant Case Forms and Patterns of Syncretism in Early West Germanic

open access: yesTransactions of the Philological Society, EarlyView.
Abstract Early stages of the Old West Germanic languages differ from the other two branches, Gothic and Norse, by showing remnants of a fifth case in a‐ and ō‐stem nouns. The forms in question, which have the ending ‐i or ‐u, are conventionally labelled ‘instrumental’ and cover a range of functions, such as instrument, means, comitative and locative ...

Analysis and Demonstration of a Fast Tunable Fiber-Ring-Based Optical Frequency Comb Generator [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Lightwave Technology, 2007
Fiber-ring-based optical frequency comb generators are analyzed to understand their behavior and limitations. A numerical frequency-domain model is described for studying dispersion and other phase mismatch causing effects in the fiber ring cavity, as ...

Frequency comb generation in the green using silicon nitride microresonators [PDF]

open access: yesLaser and Photonics Reviews, 2016
Optical frequency combs enable precision measurements in fundamental physics and have been applied to a growing number of applications, such as molecular spectroscopy, LIDAR and atmospheric trace-gas sensing.

Calculation of the Phase Noise at Comb-Line Frequencies in a Frequency Comb

Frontiers in Optics + Laser Science 2021, 2021
We calculate the phase noise in a modified uni-traveling carrier photodetector for frequency comb applications. In contrast to a continuous wave, a frequency comb is characterized by a distinct phase noise for each comb line.

Enhancement resonators for frequency combs

2006 IEEE LEOS Annual Meeting Conference Proceedings, 2006
The development of high finesse resonators for broadband frequency combs enabled the extension of the versatile frequency comb technique into the extreme ultraviolet with all its implications. We describe new developments in this field.

Measurement of Comb Finger and Comb Spacing Stability in Phononic Frequency Comb

2021 IEEE 16th International Conference on Nano/Micro Engineered and Molecular Systems (NEMS), 2021
In this paper, we present a method for measuring the frequency stability of each comb finger and comb spacing in a phononic frequency comb. Based on this method, we present the experimental results of the stability of the comb fingers and comb spacing in a piezoelectrically actuated free-free beam microstructure for the first time.

Spectrometry with frequency combs

Optics Letters, 2002
A method is proposed for performing accurate spectral characterization of samples with frequency combs, e.g., from mode-locked lasers, over the spectral range covered by the combs. The essence of the method is the use of two combs of slightly different mode spacing to achieve spectral resolution.

Optomechanical frequency comb memory

Optics Letters, 2018
Typical nano-mechanical oscillator arrays exhibit a mechanical frequency distribution arising from the imprecision in the nanofabrication process, thus hindering their collective dynamics. We tailor the inhomogeneously broadened spectrum of a nano-oscillator ensemble to unravel the collective dynamics of mechanical oscillators in an optomechanical ...
