Vacuum-ultraviolet frequency-modulation spectroscopy

open access: yes, 2017
Frequency-modulation (FM) spectroscopy has been extended to the vacuum-ultraviolet (VUV) range of the electromagnetic spectrum. Coherent VUV laser radiation is produced by resonance-enhanced sum-frequency mixing ($\nu_{\mathrm{VUV}}=2\nu_{\mathrm{UV ...

Spot‐14 and its paralog Spot‐14R regulate expression of metabolic and thermogenic pathway genes in murine brown and beige adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Spot‐14 and Spot‐14R play distinct roles in regulating metabolism in brown and beige adipocytes. While both influence lipid and glucose pathways, Spot‐14 uniquely controls thermogenic gene expression. This dual regulation balances energy storage and heat production, highlighting potential therapeutic targets for obesity and metabolic disorders. Spot 14

Discrimination of static and dynamic spectral patterns by children and young adults in relationship to speech perception in noise

open access: yesAudiology Research, 2014
Past work has shown relationship between the ability to discriminate spectral patterns and measures of speech intelligibility. The purpose of this study was to investigate the ability of both children and young adults to discriminate static and dynamic ...

Electro-mechanically induced GHz rate optical frequency modulation in silicon [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2012
We present a monolithic silicon acousto-optic frequency modulator (AOFM) operating at 1.09GHz. Direct spectroscopy of the modulated laser power shows asymmetric sidebands which indicate coincident amplitude modulation and frequency modulation. Employing mechanical levers to enhance displacement of the optical resonator resulted in greater than 67X ...

Low-Frequency Intensity Modulation of High-Frequency Rotor Noise [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Acoustic spectra of rotor noise yield frequency-distributions of energy within pressure time series. However, they are unable to reveal phase-relations between different frequency components, while the latter play a role in low-frequency intensity modulation of higher-frequency rotor noise. Interaction vesicles as emerging mediators of host‐pathogen molecular crosstalk and their implications for infection dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Interaction extracellular vesicles (iEVs) are hybrid vesicles formed through host‐pathogen communication. They facilitate immune evasion, transfer pathogens' molecules, increase host cell uptake, and enhance virulence. This Perspective article illustrates the multifunctional roles of iEVs and highlights their emerging relevance in infection dynamics ...

Frequency-modulation saturation spectroscopy of molecular iodine hyperfine structure near 640 nm with a diode laser source

open access: yes, 2009
In a frequency-modulation spectroscopy experiment, using the radiation from a single frequency diode laser, the spectra of molecular iodine hyperfine structure near 640 nm were recorded on the transition $B^3\Pi_{0_u^{+}}-X^1\Sigma^+_{g}$.

Frequency-modulated comb LIDAR [PDF]

open access: yesConference on Lasers and Electro-Optics, 2019
We propose and demonstrate frequency-modulated comb LIDAR (FMcomb LIDAR), in which comb modes of a frequency-modulated optical frequency comb are coherently stitched, generating an effective larger scanning range and enhanced ranging resolution.

STAT3 expression is reduced in cardiac pericytes in HFpEF and its loss reduces cellular adhesion and induces pericyte senescence

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) accounts for half of the heart failure cases. It is characterised by microvascular dysfunction, associated with reduced pericyte coverage and diminished STAT3 expression in pericytes. Loss of STAT3 impairs pericyte adhesion, promotes senescence, and activates a pro‐fibrotic gene program.
