Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Landslide assessment considering spatial calibration zoning of physical and mechanical parameters of rock and soil mass

open access: yesZhongguo dizhi zaihai yu fangzhi xuebao
Landslide hazard assessment is a crucial component of regional landslide disaster risk warning and control. The distributed slope stability quantitative evaluation model SINMAP (stability index mapping) is widely used in landslide hazard assessment ...

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

Low frequency movements in stock prices: a state space decomposition [PDF]

open access: yes
Previous analyses have concluded that expectations of future excess stock returns rather than future real dividend growth or real interest rates are responsible for most of the volatility in stock prices.

A novel preamble design for OFDM transmission parameter signalling

open access: yes, 2011
A novel preamble design is proposed for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing systems, which exploits the variable distance between a pair of training sequences for the transmission parameter signalling.

The Variance Ratio Statistic at Large Horizons [PDF]

open access: yes
We make three contributions to using the variance ratio statistic at large horizons. Allowing for general heteroscedasticity in the data, we obtain the asymptotic distribution of the statistic when the horizon k is increasing with the sample size n but ...

Cyclone surge inundation susceptibility assessment in Bangladesh coast through geospatial techniques and machine learning algorithms: a comparative study between an island and a mangrove protected area

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science
Tropical cyclones, including surge inundation, are a joint event in the coastal regions of Bangladesh. The surge washes out the life and property within a very short period. Besides, in most cases, the area remains flooded for several days. Prediction of

Longitudinal circulating tumor DNA profiling in patients with advanced endometrial cancer using an off‐the‐shelf targeted NGS panel

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Intratumour heterogeneity complicates precision management of advanced endometrial cancer. Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) offers a minimally invasive strategy to capture tumor evolution and therapeutic resistance. Here, we compare tumor‐agnostic NGS with tumor‐informed ddPCR, outlining their relative sensitivity, concordance, and clinical implications ...

Interaction of HS1BP3 with cortactin modulates TKS5 localisation, cell secretion and cancer malignancy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Here, we demonstrate that HS1BP3 interacts with Cortactin through a proline‐rich region (PRR3.1) and show that this interaction, and HS1BP3 itself, promote cancer cell proliferation and invasion. Inhibition of this interaction leads to build‐up of TKS5 in multivesicular endosomes and altered secretion of CD63 and CD9, providing an explanation for the ...
