A computationally efficient multi-mode equaliser based on reconfigurable frequency domain processing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Broadband wireless communication systems requires that systems be designed to operate with high spectral efficiency in wideband channels. Such requirements make OFDM an attractive transmission technology due to the fact it exploits the computational ...

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Virtual inertia control to active support of the variable-speed wind turbine in variable frequency limit time

open access: yesFrontiers in Energy Research
Constraining the virtual inertia of variable-speed wind turbines within the variable frequency limit time will be the key to improving the wind power’s reliability in actively supporting the system frequency.

The human gut microbiome across the life course

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.

Calculation of Natural Frequencies of Teeth Supported with the Periodontal Ligament

open access: yesDental Materials Journal, 2007
Natural frequencies and vibration modes of four kinds of teeth were calculated by using a mechanical model. The alveolar bone and the tooth were assumed as rigid bodies, while the periodontal ligament was assumed as an elastic spring. All the natural frequencies were within a range of 1 to 10 kHz.

Signal Processing Methods to Improve Ocean Surface Wave Estimation from a High Frequency Surface Wave Radar [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
High frequency surface wave radars are operated as a remote sensor to measure ocean surface parameters to ranges exceeding 200-300 km from the coastline.

Rab14 regulates the transport of human papillomavirus to the trans‐Golgi network for infectious cell entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.
