From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...

Frequency domain iterative tuning for active noise and vibration control [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
In this thesis a new adaptive control method, called Iterative Tuning in the Frequency Domain (FD-IT), is proposed for Active Noise and Vibration Control (ANVC).

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

Biodynamic Hypothesis for the Frequency Tuning of Motion Sickness [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
INTRODUCTION Motion sickness is often provoked by oscillatory translational (linear) acceleration. For humans, motion frequencies around 0.2-0.3Hz are the most provocative.

Responses to social vocalizations in the dorsal cochlear nucleus of mice

open access: yesFrontiers in Systems Neuroscience, 2015
Identifying sounds is critical for an animal to make appropriate behavioral responses to environmental stimuli, including vocalizations from conspecifics.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Patents, software and hardware for PID control: an overview and analysis of the current art [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Proportional-integral-derivative (PID) control provides simplicity, clear functionality, and ease of use. Since the invention of PID control in 1910 (largely owing to Elmer Sperry’s ship autopilot) and the straightforward Ziegler-Nichol (Z-N) tuning rule

On The Requirement Of Automatic Tuning Frequency Estimation.

open access: yes, 2006
The deviation of the tuning frequency from the standard tuning frequency 440 Hz is evaluated for a database of classical music. It is discussed if and under what circumstances such a deviation may affect the robustness of pitch-based systems for musical content analysis.

Interrogating the immune landscape of microsatellite stable RAS‐mutated colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
COLOSSUS project RAS‐mutated MSS colon cancer study explored transcriptomics and immune cell density by immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunoscore (IS), ISIC/TuLIS scores, mutation counts, and detected different prevalences but similar microenvironment composition across immune markers with clinical relevance for future immunotherapy combination ...

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...
