proportion: A comprehensive R package for inference on single Binomial proportion and Bayesian computations

open access: yesSoftwareX, 2017
Extensive statistical practice has shown the importance and relevance of the inferential problem of estimating probability parameters in a binomial experiment; especially on the issues of competing intervals from frequentist, Bayesian, and Bootstrap ...

Personalizing smoking cessation pharmacotherapy using neuroaffective reactivity profiles: A randomized controlled trial

open access: yesAddiction, EarlyView.
Abstract Background and aims By assessing neuroaffective response to motivationally relevant cues before a quit attempt, we have shown that smokers who attribute greater incentive salience to cigarette‐related cues than non‐cigarette‐related rewards (Sign‐trackers, ST) benefit more from varenicline compared with smokers with the opposite neuroaffective

Efficacy of Biologics for Hidradenitis Suppurativa: A Network Meta Analysis and Meta Regression for Baseline Disease Severity

open access: yesAustralasian Journal of Dermatology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Hidradenitis Suppurativa is a challenging, heterogeneous inflammatory skin disease, with three approved biologic therapies. No head‐to‐head studies exist comparing these therapeutic modalities, and previous work has identified the influence of baseline disease severity upon clinical response.

Long‐run confidence: Estimating uncertainty when using long‐run multipliers

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Political Science, EarlyView.
Abstract Researchers are often interested in the long‐run relationship (LRR) between variables where the dependent variable has dynamic properties. Though determining the long‐run multiplier (LRM) for an independent variable is straightforward, correctly estimating the significance of the LRM is often difficult, especially when time series are short ...

Labour epidural analgesia and early childhood behavioural outcomes: the moderating role of maternal mental health and pro‐inflammatory cytokines

open access: yesAnaesthesia, EarlyView.
Summary Introduction Labour epidural analgesia is the most effective method for intrapartum pain relief and is associated with improved maternal outcomes. However, concerns have been raised regarding potential associations between labour epidural analgesia and adverse psycho‐emotional outcomes in children. Evidence from large epidemiological studies is

Understanding cooperative membership and maize market participation in Rwanda: A Bayesian triple‐hurdle analysis

open access: yesAnnals of Public and Cooperative Economics, EarlyView.
Abstract Smallholder market participation studies often focus narrowly on selling decisions, overlooking the institutional role of agricultural cooperatives, particularly in contexts like Rwanda, where cooperatives underpin agricultural policy. Consequently, empirical evidence on how cooperative membership shapes farmers’ commercialization across ...

A tutorial on Bayesian model averaging for exponential random graph models

open access: yesBritish Journal of Mathematical and Statistical Psychology, EarlyView.
Abstract The use of exponential random graph models (ERGMs) is becoming prevalent in psychology due to their ability to explain and predict the formation of edges between vertices in a network. Valid inference with ERGMs requires correctly specifying endogenous and exogenous effects as network statistics, guided by theory, to represent the network ...

A Bayes factor framework for unified parameter estimation and hypothesis testing

open access: yesBritish Journal of Mathematical and Statistical Psychology, EarlyView.
Abstract The Bayes factor, the data‐based updating factor of the prior to posterior odds of two hypotheses, is a natural measure of statistical evidence for one hypothesis over the other. We show how Bayes factors can also be used for parameter estimation.
