Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Influence of GGBS and Mono Steel Fiber on Strength Characteristics of Self-Compacting Concrete [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
In recent scenarios, self-compacting concrete (SCC) has played a vital role in the construction industry. In the fresh state, SCC has flow ability, passing ability, and filling ability. SCC also had better strength and durability properties. The addition

Tests of properties of fresh concrete

open access: yesMagazine of Concrete Research, 1952
Summary A description is given of a deformability meter for studying the properties of fresh concrete which has been evolved at the Swedish Cement and Concrete Research Institute. Examples are adduced to demonstrate the effects produced by varying mixes and by the admixture of resins. The test results afford information on the tendency to segregation

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

The ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy as guardians of the cellular proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This Perspective covers the three principles governing the crosstalk between the ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy in cellular proteostasis: (1) a shared ubiquitin code routing substrates via shuttle factors or autophagy receptors; (2) spatial compartmentalization into phase‐separated degradation hubs and organelle‐specific modules (exemplified

Composite binders for concretes with improved shock resistance

open access: yesИнженерно-строительный журнал, 2019
The qualitative and quantitative composition and properties of the initial materials, composite binders and concrete samples were studied. Optimal compositions of concrete for protective structures that provide the maximum static and dynamic strength ...

Cell geometry and membrane protein crowding constrain Escherichia coli growth rate, overflow metabolism, respiration, and maintenance energy

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The physical dimensions and shape of bacterial cells define the surface area available to acquire nutrients and the volume available for synthesizing proteins and DNA. Here, we use computational systems biology to decode the importance of cell geometry as a major determinant of prokaryotic phenotype, including growth rate and metabolic efficiency. This
