Seasonal variation in activity and nearshore habitat use of Lake Trout in a subarctic lake

open access: yesMovement Ecology, 2023
Background In lake ecosystems, predatory fish can move and forage across both nearshore and offshore habitats. This coupling of sub-habitats, which is important in stabilizing lake food webs, has largely been assessed from a dietary perspective and has ...

Microplastic contamination, an emerging threat to the freshwater environment: a systematic review

open access: yesEnvironmental Systems Research
Microplastics have been noticed as widespread in an aquatic environment at the microscale. They have nonstop increased due to the increase in the production of synthetic plastics, population and poor waste management.

Can you see the algae for the slime? Temporal patterns of biofilm food quality and quantity in lowland rivers

open access: yesEcosphere, 2023
Animals must invest some portion of their metabolism to activities related to physiological maintenance and the remainder to processes related to the production of new biomass for growth and reproduction.

Sustainable Catalyst‐Free PLG Networks: Recyclability, Biodegradability, and Functional Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A catalyst‐additive free covalent adaptable network is developed from star‐shaped poly(lactide‐co‐glycolide) cross‐linked with pyromellitic dianhydride, enabling internal carboxylic acid‐driven transesterification. The resulting biodegradable network exhibits mechanical robustness (Young's modulus ≈1.6 GPa), complete recyclability, rapid biodegradation
