Freshwater fish diversity information system as a basis for sustainable fishery [PDF]
Our freshwater fish diversity is poorly studied. There is no proper documentation on freshwater fish resources of India. Due to irrational fishing practices, environmental aberrations like reduction in water volume, increased sedimentation, water ...

Seasonal distribution of Vibrio parahaemolyticus in freshwater environs and in association with freshwater fishes in Calcutta [PDF]
The seasonal distribution of Vibrio parahaemolyticus in freshwater environs and in association with freshwater fishes was studied in 1982 and 1983. The occurrence of this organism in water and sediments at the three sites studied was very infrequent and was restricted to the summer months, although it was not always isolated during these months.

Modifying Surber sampling technique increases capture of freshwater crabs in African upland streams
We compared 2 methods for sampling the freshwater crab Potamonautes odhneri (Colosi) in Kenyan streams: standard Surber sampling, in which a sample is taken over a period of several minutes; and rapid Surber sampling, in which the process is reduced to ...

Escape rooms: behavioural response of two invasive crayfish species under water decline scenarios
Climate change and invasive alien species pose a significant threat to biodiversity and the survival of native species. This study considered the impact of drought conditions on the escape behaviour through terrestrial dispersal ability of two invasive ...

Simulating carbon fluxes in boreal catchments: WSFS-Vemala model development and key insights [PDF]
Lakes and streams play an important role in the global carbon cycle through carbon sedimentation and evasion. The development of carbon processes in the water quality model WSFS-Vemala (Vemala) presents a significant advancement in simulating carbon ...
