Phylogenetically‐Informed Crayfish Conservation in the Face of Climate Change
Crayfish are a vital part of freshwater ecosystems, yet one third of assessed species are threatened with extinction, and almost 90% are highly sensitive to climate change. In this study, we produced a phylogenetically‐informed species prioritisation for crayfish conservation and explored the impacts of projected climate change scenarios on crayfish ...

A turtle population study in an isolated urban wetland complex in Ontario reveals a few surprises
We report on the results of the first mark–recapture survey of freshwater turtles in an isolated urban wetland complex in one of Canada’s fastest growing municipalities.

We compared genetic diversity and spatial genetic structure in the snapping turtle (Chelydra serpentina; left panel), Blanding's turtle (Emydoidea blandingii; bottom right), and spotted turtle (Clemmys guttata; top right) sampled in areas of co‐occurrence across ~49,160 km2.

Are freshwater turtles macro-epibionts indicators of water quality of the streams where the turtles live? [PDF]
Organisms that live above others can give information not only about the relation between them but also about the environment they inhabit. In that sense, this work studies the relationship between epibionts living on freshwater turtles and the impact ...

Biometric Analysis of Giant and Large Murid Remains From Matja Kuru 2, Timor‐Leste
ABSTRACT Published research on Matja Kuru 2 (MK2) demonstrates its significance for understanding human lifestyle during the terminal Pleistocene and Holocene. Murids represent the most commonly identified taxa in the site, with specimens preliminarily classified as small, large and giant based on size comparisons.

Emerging fungal diseases pose a threat to reptiles globally. Increasing detections of onygenalean fungi, particularly Ophidiomyces ophidiicola, Nannizziopsis spp. and Paranannizziopsis spp. in clinically diseased free‐ranging reptiles, indicate likely ongoing spread within wild reptile populations.

A comparative study to determine the native eye lens protein in the some types of Iraqi vertebrates
This study showed that the lens in baloot muluki fish Chondrostoma regium is transparent, spherical shape, and solid in textures, while in the tree frog Hyla arborea savignyi, freshwater turtles Clemmys caspia caspia, white–eared bulbul Pycnonotus ...

Terrestrial habitat requirements of nesting freshwater turtles
Because particular life history traits affect species vulnerability to development pressures, cross-species summaries of life history traits are useful for generating management guidelines. Conservation of aquatic turtles, many members of which are regionally or globally imperiled, requires knowing the extent of upland habitat used for nesting ...

Evolutionary Ecology of Freshwater Turtles
This long-term study explores the evolution of life history traits(e.g. reproductive traits such as mating system, migratory behavior, sex determination, demography) and the footprint that those traits leave on the genetic makeup of populations(e.g. genetic differentiation, gene flow) to understand the ecological and evolutionary significance of trait ...
