A Comprehensive Review of Traditional and Machine Learning‐Assisted Diffuse Optical Spectroscopy and Imaging Techniques for Dermatological Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, Volume 7, Issue 5, May 2026.
This review critically examines clinical studies on both conventional and machine learning (ML)‐integrated diffuse optical spectroscopy and imaging methods for dermatological applications, with a primary focus on the past decade and inclusion of earlier foundational work where appropriate.

Biofunctional Interface Integrated Multilayer SPR Biosensor for Precise Detection of Basal Cell Carcinoma

open access: yesElectron, Volume 4, Issue 2, May 2026.
A biofunctional multilayer SPR biosensor based on CsF/TiO2/Ag/CaTiO3/BP/PEG/anti‐BerEP4 is proposed for highly sensitive and selective detection of basal cell carcinoma. The sensor demonstrates enhanced performance with high sensitivity, strong resonance characteristics, and reliable differentiation between normal and cancerous cells, supporting early ...

Knife-edge diffraction of scalar and vector vortex light

open access: yesAPL Photonics
Various methods have been introduced to measure the orbital angular momentum (OAM) of light, from fork holograms to Dove prism interferometers, from tilted lenses to triangular apertures—each with its own benefits and limitations.

Adsorption Preceding Wetting Front Controls Seismic Velocity

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 8, 28 April 2026.
Abstract Rock elasticity varies with both humidity and water saturation, yet their combined effects remain poorly understood, although in nature vapor adsorption and liquid infiltration occur simultaneously. Here, we present experimental data of P‐wave velocity and volume expansion in a free‐standing sandstone subject to progressive wetting.

External Reflection From Two‐Photon Laser‐Printed Micromirrors Enables Photomechanical Actuation at a 90° Incident Angle

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 32, 20 April 2026.
Light reflectance increases along incidence angle and transmittance significantly drops around 90‐degree incidence angle. Here, we report two‐photon laser printed micro mirrors that redirect the skimming light beam into normal light absorption. Using this technique, light‐driven micro walkers and grippers are demonstrated by using grazing incidence ...

Quasi‐Single‐Mode Polaritonic Crystal for Hyperbolic Phonon‐Polaritons

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, Volume 14, Issue 13, 3 April 2026.
Near‐field study of the polaritonic Fourier crystal with α‐MoO3 reveals that the hyperbolic phonon‐polaritons within the Type‐I Reststrahlen band may form a quasi‐single‐mode Bloch wave where only the fundamental mode propagates in the crystal. Our results demonstrate the realization of a quasi‐single‐mode regime for the inherently multimode hyperbolic

High‐Order Nonlinear Photonic Crystal with Ordered Structures for Giant Enhancement of Frequency Tripling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 23, 23 April 2026.
A meta‐YAG crystal with artificially order/disorder structures was fabricated to realize the efficient third‐harmonic generation at 343 nm with a conversion efficiency of 4.5×10−3, surpassing six orders of magnitude compared to bulk YAG crystal. Moreover, a wide spectral tunability from 331 to 356 nm was also achieved in the meta‐YAG, indicating its ...

1560‐nm‐Driven Second‐Order Nonlinear Optical Response in CsGeI3: a Room‐Temperature Ferroelectric Halide Perovskite

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, Volume 12, Issue 8, 20 April 2026.
Several hundred micrometer‐scale single crystals of the ferroelectric halide perovskite CsGeI3 were grown from aqueous solution and shown to generate terahertz emission efficiently under 1560 nm femtosecond laser excitation by optical rectification.

Effect of the Fresnel membranous prism on the visual function.

open access: yesJAPANESE ORTHOPTIC JOURNAL, 2007
