Innovative Solar Tracking Concept by Rotating Prism Array
Solar energy has become one of the most promising renewable energies and is the most widely used nowadays. In order to achieve an optimum performance, both photovoltaic and solar thermal applications are required to track the position of the sun ...

Sub-Terahertz 3-D Printed All-Dielectric Low-Cost Low-Profile Lens-Integrated Polarization Beam Splitter [PDF]
Polarizing beam splitters (PBSs) are essential components for polarization-multiplexed communication system. However, conventional PBS, such as Rochon prism and Wollaston prism, must be sufficiently thick to generate enough walk-off distance between two ...

Our computational model of the optical absorption from multiwalled carbon nanotubes suggests the optical absorption depends strongly on the in‐plane electrical conductivity, and weakly on the through‐plane conductivity. Such strong absorption enables solar‐to‐thermal conversion for heat scavenging in cold climates and radiative cooling in hot climates,

Revealing the Resonant Physics of Open Photonic Time Crystals
ABSTRACT Photonic time crystals (PTCs) are media whose permittivity is modulated periodically in time, enabling momentum bandgaps and parametric amplification of light. Their realization at the nanoscale can revolutionize the study of light‐matter interactions.

Advances in Floating Solar Desalination Systems
This review critically classifies floating solar desalination systems into five main categories and compares their thermal performance, productivity and technological limitations. Membrane‐based and multieffect systems showed the highest efficiencies, while traditional designs remain limited by heat losses and scaling.

Generating Circularly Polarized Light Using Hybrid Near‐Zero and High‐Index Materials
A flat‐optics approach to manipulating the polarization state of light is proposed using evanescent‐wave interactions in hybrid epsilon‐near‐zero and high‐index materials. The design enables linear‐to‐circular polarization conversion in a wavelength‐scale device design without depending on patterning or bulky optics and operates in both reflection and ...

Abstract Purpose To compare novel multi‐periscopic prisms (MPP; 42° field expansion) to commercial Fresnel peripheral prisms (FPP; 30° field expansion) as mobility devices to assist with pedestrian collision hazard detection when walking. Methods Participants with hemianopia without neglect or cognitive decline were recruited at 7 sites in a single ...
