A Parametric Absorber for Friction-Induced Vibrations

Volume 5: 19th Biennial Conference on Mechanical Vibration and Noise, Parts A, B, and C, 2003
This contribution deals with the suppression of friction-induced vibrations of a mechanical system. A two-mass system is considered, with the main mass excited by a friction-generated self-excitation force and a smaller second mass attached to the main mass.

Analysis of epistemic uncertainty for the friction‐induced vibration

ZAMM - Journal of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics / Zeitschrift für Angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik, 2014
AbstractThe phenomenon of brake squeal, which is a type of friction‐induced vibration, is analyzed using a pin‐on‐disc system. For this purpose, a finite element model is derived and its parameters are updated on the basis of experiments. The FEM analysis includes the complex eigenvalue analysis and the transient analysis.

Quasi-harmonic friction induced vibration

2011
The behaviour of the quasi-harmonic type frictional oscillation for steel sliding surfaces was investigated both experimentally and theoretically. The kinetic coefficient of friction, which was expressed as a function of sliding velocity, was represented by a polynomial.

On Tangential Friction Induced Vibrations in Brake Systems

SAE International Journal of Passenger Cars - Mechanical Systems, 2008
<div class="htmlview paragraph">The basis for the analysis of friction in brake systems is the brake pad's tribological interface. An investigation of this interface reveals friction intensive surface structures, so-called ‘patches’. Their development is determined by an equilibrium of flow, which depends on the loading of the brake pad and which
