Numerical Study of Heat Transfer Intensification in a Circular Tube Using a Thin, Radiation-Absorbing Insert. Part 1: Thermo-Hydraulic Characteristics

open access: yesEnergies, 2021
The presented paper, which is the first of two parts, shows the results of numerical investigations of a heat exchanger channel in the form of a cylindrical tube with a thin insert.

Experimental Investigation of the Heat Transfer and Pressure Drop inside Tubes and the Shell of a Minichannel Shell and Tube Type Heat Exchanger

open access: yesEnergies, 2021
This paper presents an experimental study on a shell and tube mini heat exchanger (STMHE). The STMHE consisted of seven tubes in a triangular arrangement, with an 0.8 mm inner diameter and 1.0 mm outer diameter.

Experimental Investigation of Artificial Cavities Effect of Single-Phase Fluid Flow and Heat Transfer in Single Microchannel [PDF]

open access: yesEngineering and Technology Journal, 2022
In this paper, an experimental study has been conducted to investigate the influence of artificial cavities (artificial nucleation sites, ANS) in a single microchannel on the characteristics of flow and heat transfer at a single-phase flow.

Heat Transfer Enhancement in Multiple Pipes Configuration using Different Fluid Mixtures: A Numerical Approach

open access: yesInternational Journal of Thermofluids, 2021
A variety of nanofluids flowing through multiple parallel pipes were numerically studied to examine the heat enhancement effects. Due to the advantages they bring in the cooling process, nanofluids have provided a new way to improve the performance of ...

Effect of organic acid concentration in lubricant on tribological characteristics of friction couple

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Research, 2019
Introduction. The possibility of using monocarboxylic acids as a lubricant composition additive, and the effect of their concentration in lubricant on the evolution of the friction factor of a brass-steel couple, as well as the morphology of the film ...

Measurement of Local Convective Heat Transfer Coefficient of Alumina-Water Nanofluids in a Double Tube Heat Exchanger [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering, 2019
Heat transfer coefficient and thermal efficiency of γ-Al2O3/water nanofluids flowing through a double tube heat exchanger were experimentally investigated. The nanoparticles were well dispersed in distilled water at 0.05–0.15 %vol.

Influence of Parameters on Airside Performance of Wavy Fin-and-tube Heat Exchangers with Hydrophilic Coating under Dehumidifying Conditions

open access: yesZhileng xuebao, 2007
The effects of space of fins, number of tube rows and relative humidity of incoming air on airside performance of waw fin with hydrophilic coating under dehumidifying conditions were experimentally explored for seven waw fin - and - tube heat exchangers ...

Formulas for Friction Factor in Transitional Regimes [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Hydraulic Engineering, 2008
This note concerns variations of the friction factor in the two transitional regimes, one between laminar and turbulent flows and the other between fully smooth and fully rough turbulent flows. An interpolation approach is developed to derive a single explicit formula for computing the friction factor in all flow regimes.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...
