Friction factors for powder flow
Powder Technology, 1974Abstract A new method of determining factors which inhibit the flow of dry particulate solids on inclined surfaces has been developed. The net effect of forces which act to inhibit flow is approximated by a frictional model. Two coefficients of resistance to flow: between particles and a smooth surface and between particles themselves, are determined.

An Alternative (Preferable) Friction Factor
Fluids Engineering, 2006An alternative to the traditional friction factor for pipe flow is presented (φ = [R]f). For incompressible flows, the correlation of this new friction factor with Reynolds Number [R] and Relative Roughness [ε] is presented graphically, and appears much simpler and more intuitive than the Moody Diagram (or other equivalents).

Determination of Form Friction Factor
Journal of Hydrologic Engineering, 2010Friction factor plays a fundamental role in hydraulic analysis and design. In coarse-bed rivers friction factor depends on grain size and bed forms. Considering boundary-layer characteristics, this study first determines the total friction factor in gravel-bed rivers with bed forms.

Friction Factor of Meandering Flows
Journal of Hydraulic Engineering, 1999An expression for the friction factor of rough turbulent meandering flows is suggested: flow cross section is rectangular, the plan shape of the meandering channel is sine-generated. This expression gives the value of the friction factor as a function of position (which is determined by, among other factors, the local channel curvature) and channel ...

Friction factor in a semifluidized bed
The Chemical Engineering Journal, 1982Abstract Experimental data on pressure drop in liquid—solid semifluidization have been interpreted in terms of a newly defined friction factor (f), which has been successfully correlated as a function of particle Reynolds number.

Key Engineering Materials, 2016
The orthogonal experimental study is carried out to study the Incorporation of different proportion of functional components and the effect on tribological performance among semi-metallic friction materials. A test is conducted for each sample on XXD-MSM constant speed tester in accordance with Brake Linings for Automobiles (GB5763-2008).

Ripple Concentration and Friction Factor
Journal of the Hydraulics Division, 1970Flow over ripples in alluvial channels is essentially the same as the flow over rigid roughness elements, the main difference lying only in the shapes of the ripples and roughness elements. The total friction factor is the summation of grain-roughness friction factor and form-roughness friction factor.

Friction Factors for Pipe Flow
Journal of Fluids Engineering, 1944Abstract The object of this paper is to furnish the engineer with a simple means of estimating the friction factors to be used in computing the loss of head in clean new pipes and in closed conduits running full with steady flow. The modern developments in the application of theoretical hydrodynamics to the fluid-friction problem are ...

Friction in metal forming – the coefficient of friction μ and the factor of friction m
2016Abstract Friction is sometimes helpful. For example, high friction on the punch surface helps increase reductions in deep drawing and ironing. In a few instances it has to have at least some small value, as in rolling where it assures entry of the workpiece into the roll gap and helps maintain rolling without skidding of the workpiece. However, in most
