Friction in production the coefficient of friction μ the factor of friction m

Proceedings of the 10th International Scientific and Expert Conference, 2022
Is given in the paper mathematical representation of friction. Bowden-Tabor Theory for cold forming and Bowden Tabor Theory for hot forming Friction is sometimes helpful. For example, high friction on the punch surface helps increase reductions in deep drawing and ironing. In a few instances it has to have at least some small value, as in rolling where

Friction factor in nanochannel flows

Microfluidics and Nanofluidics, 2016
Non-equilibrium molecular dynamics simulations are employed in order to access the detailed atomic behavior of fluids moving in nanochannels and to quantify the associated energy dissipation. Nanochannels of various degrees of wall hydrophobicity/hydrophilicity and roughness are studied.

Determination of Form Friction Factor

Journal of Hydrologic Engineering, 2010
Friction factor plays a fundamental role in hydraulic analysis and design. In coarse-bed rivers friction factor depends on grain size and bed forms. Considering boundary-layer characteristics, this study first determines the total friction factor in gravel-bed rivers with bed forms.

Friction factors for powder flow

Powder Technology, 1974
Abstract A new method of determining factors which inhibit the flow of dry particulate solids on inclined surfaces has been developed. The net effect of forces which act to inhibit flow is approximated by a frictional model. Two coefficients of resistance to flow: between particles and a smooth surface and between particles themselves, are determined.

An Alternative (Preferable) Friction Factor

Fluids Engineering, 2006
An alternative to the traditional friction factor for pipe flow is presented (φ = [R]f). For incompressible flows, the correlation of this new friction factor with Reynolds Number [R] and Relative Roughness [ε] is presented graphically, and appears much simpler and more intuitive than the Moody Diagram (or other equivalents).

Friction Factor Evaluation in Gravel‐Bed Rivers

Journal of Hydraulic Engineering, 1988
Field data gathered from 43 river reaches of Calabria (southern Italy) were employed to develop a theoretically based equation for predicting the f‐friction factor that takes into account both the Froude number and the sediment mobility parameter. The river reaches investigated have: (1) Reasonably uniform and relatively low flow; (2) no appreciable ...

Single-phase liquid friction factors in microchannels

International Journal of Thermal Sciences, 2005
The validity of friction factor theory based upon conventional sized passages for microchannel flows is still an active area of research. Several researchers have reported significant deviation from predicted values, while others have reported general agreement.
