HEAT TRANSFER ENHANCEMENT WITH NANOFLUIDS – A REVIEW [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Mechanical Engineering and Sciences, 2013
This paper presents a review of the studies undertaken on convection heat transfer with nanofluids. Initial studies were directed towards the determination of the properties of nanofluids, especially their thermal conductivity and viscosity.

Immunosuppressive Drug Use in Limited Systemic Sclerosis: An International Survey

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Current guidelines recommend immunosuppressive treatment for diffuse cutaneous systemic sclerosis but are less clear on their use in limited cutaneous systemic sclerosis (lcSSc) in the absence of internal organ complications. We conducted an international survey to understand current immunosuppressive drug prescribing patterns in lcSSc ...

Anorectal Dysfunction in Systemic Sclerosis: Clinical Phenotypes and Functional Patterns

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective The aim of this study was to characterize specific physiologic defects in anorectal dysfunction in systemic sclerosis (SSc) using anorectal manometry (ARM), evaluate associations with gastrointestinal (GI) and extraintestinal clinical phenotypes, and explore potential serologic markers for risk stratification.

Impact of Blockage Ratio on Thermal Performance of Delta-Winglet Vortex Generators

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2018
The impact of double-sided delta-winglet tape (DWTs) inserts on convective heat transfer and friction behaviors in a tube was experimentally investigated. Three DWTs with ratios of winglet-height (b) to inner tube diameter (di) called blockage ratio (Rb)

Association of Elevated Platelets and C‐Reactive Protein With Severe Disease and Poor Survival in Systemic Sclerosis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Elevated C‐reactive protein (CRP) levels in systemic sclerosis (SSc) have been linked with severe disease and worse survival, but the role of platelet levels remains unclear. This study examined whether elevated platelet levels, CRP levels, or both are associated with disease severity, progression, and survival in SSc.

Quantitative effects of hydro-dynamic parameters on abrasion extent aggregates by overland flow

open access: yesShui kexue jinzhan, 2012
The aggregate is the fundamental structural unit of a soil. The destruction of a soil aggregate that is transported by overland flow may significantly affect the surface runoff and permeability of soils, sediment content and the general erosion intensity ...

Towards Defect Phase Diagrams: From Research Data Management to Automated Workflows

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A research data management infrastructure is presented for the systematic integration of heterogeneous experimental and simulation data required for defect phase diagrams. The approach combines openBIS with a companion application for large‐object storage, automated metadata extraction, provenance tracking and federated data access, thereby supporting ...

Solid‐State Diffusion and Intermetallic Phase Formation in Roll‐Bonded Mg–Zn Composites With Kirigami‐Patterned Inlay

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Mg–Zn composites with a thickness of 0.21 mm were fabricated using roll bonding of a kirigami‐patterned Mg alloy inlay within a Zn matrix. Thermal activation following this process led to the formation of tailored intermetallic structures, which provided the composite with enhanced flexural strength.
