Progress in Rubber and Plastics Technology, 1995
The results reported indicate that the properties of polyurethanes elastomers can be tailored to serve a wide variety of applications, for low temperature uses as well. The glass transition temperatures of the soft segments (T gs ) which control the low temperature ...

Friction mechanisms and interfacial slip at fluid solid interfaces
Journal of Physics: Condensed Matter, 2002We present series of experiments based on near field laser velocimetry, developed to characterize the friction mechanisms at fluid–solid interfaces. For polymers, entangled polymer melts are sheared against smooth solid surfaces, covered by surface attached polymer chains of the same chemical species, having a controlled surface density.

A dislocation mechanism of friction between a nanoprobe and solid surface
Technical Physics, 2002A dislocation mechanism of friction between an atomic-force microscope (AFM) probe and an atomically smooth solid surface is put forward. In this mechanism, the contact region is represented by an edge dislocation. The triboacoustic emission measured with an AFM shows the dislocation nature of friction.

Microscopic mechanisms for kinetic friction: Nearly frictionless sliding for small solids
Physical Review B, 1995In previous work, the present author presented calculations in support of the contention that the long-time average rate of energy dissipation that occurs when two sufficiently small nonmetallic solid bodies slide in contact with each other in steady state is nearly zero.

Proceedings of Higher Educational Institutions. Маchine Building, 2022
The article analyzes the wear dynamics of solid lubricant coatings (SLC) of suspension, magnetron-high-frequency and diffusion methods of application. Calculated dependences are presented to assess the tribotechnical characteristics of the SLC. It was found that the service life of SLC based on MoS2 HF application in the considered ranges of surface ...

Superslipperiness at Low Temperatures: Quantum Mechanical Aspects of Solid State Friction
Physical Review Letters, 1999It has recently been shown that there is no static friction in a contact of atomically flat crystallinesolids provided the periods of their lattices are incommensurate and they are interacting weakly. Inthe present Letter, it is shown that, at low temperatures, the phonon contribution to the coefficient offriction can be very small also, by virtue of the
